What a circus! Entire county bans clown costumes

A Mississippi county has had enough of the creepy clown craze, at least until after Halloween.

Kemper County supervisors this week banned people from wearing any clown costume, mask or makeup in public. The local law carries a $150 penalty, and it will be lifted Nov. 1.

The Kemper County Messenger reports that supervisors President Johnny Whitsett says it’s a matter of public safety because people could react badly if they get scared by a clown in their yard.

The county along the Alabama line has a population of about 10,000.

Lee Rowland, an American Civil Liberties Union attorney in New York, says the First Amendment protects most clothing choices. She also says it’s “a ridiculous use of government authority …. to dictate which Halloween costumes people can wear.”

The Associated Press contributed to this article.

I am a Shriner clown and we visit hospitals, churches, and schools. This thing about clowns has the public scared to see any good clowns. Hopefully this will go away and we can continue with our work.
    Thanks

Halloween is rooted in demonic influences. So glad clowns are banned. So should this anti- God pagan celebration.

Halloween (hallowed evening) was a celebration of the harvest festival by the Druids in Celtic Great Britain. This was before Christianity, so this festival is neither pro or con Christian. And they weren’t anti God, just worshipping different gods.

I would urge all teenagers in Kemper County to violate this order and wear a clown costume on Halloween. Note I only mentioned teenagers. They are young enough that the superiors can only get angry and not do much. Adults may have to fight a fine in court, so leave the mischief to the youngsters. I’d give anything to be a teenager again. I’d throw it in their face and wear clown costume for sure.

But the cliwns were amazing. The
