Security officials from German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative bloc are proposing a ban on wearing the burqa and other face-covering veils in schools, courts, while driving and in other situations.
Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere told reporters Friday after meetings with his state counterparts from the conservative Union bloc that full face coverings are “not part of our open society” and that officials “urge everyone to show their faces.”
De Maiziere acknowledged constitutional problems with a blanket burqa ban and says the proposal seeks only to prohibit face coverings “where showing the face has a function.”
He pointed out that Germany already bans the wearing of any kind of face covering at demonstrations, such as masks, meant to hide protesters’ identities.
The proposal still faces several legislative hurdles.

Don’t blame Merkel, the head of the CDU a conservative party, she personally is o.k but she is not alone, she has to deal wit the SPD a socialistic party, the “Red Party” (Die Roten) officially the communistic party, and then the “Green Party” the party of hallelujah singers, tree huger, and we are “thou good people” who are apologizing to thieves, thugs and murderer for their misfortune and blaming the victims in part are being guilty to be robbed, raped and or killed, and everything I mean everything must be controlled and regulated by and through the government. I could go on and on of what is wrong over there and believe me as a conservative German newcomer to this beautiful nation, I do see the HANDWRITING ON THE WALL here in my new home the US of A. The burqa is an example of something that would have possibly been useful in a desert area but not as useful elsewhere. In today’s society dust storms are not much of an issue. Public safety is an issue. The Muslim garb can hide a bomb or other weapons. Considering how much violence is committed by Muslims I don’t think this is unreasonable. At least people can tell whether it is a man or woman.
Burka- another Organized Religion piece of sheer Idiocy. American Indians, Siouxs, Cheyenne and Iroquois would never think of such a G D Gimmick to control half of a societies population. Our Sioux women wore large butcher knives and were quite adept at using them and not just for butchering, Deer, Elk or Buffalo. They were free to ‘Eunuch’ a Male if he ever approached them with the least amount of suspicion- no questions asked by the tribe.
