Former First Lady Michelle Obama has declared herself “a powerful orator” and heaped praise upon herself… if anyone doesn’t agree, they’re sexist.
Conservative activist Megyn Kelly had a clever comeback.
Kelly spent nearly 12 minutes on Monday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show responding to Obama’s recent appearance on “IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson,” recorded live at the Essence Festival in New Orleans and released last week.
The episode featured Obama speaking with actress Keke Palmer about how early media coverage of her was unfair because they asked about her fashion.
“And I realized, ‘Oh, this is how they do women in politics. This is how we treat women in public life,'” Obama told Palmer. “We diminish them to just what they look like, and not what I’m saying.”
“That didn’t just start. I was always a powerful orator.”
“She is dripping in narcissism,” Kelly shot back. “Dripping in it. Would you at least feign some humility? I’m embarrassed for you.”
“You’re actually not that great [of an ourator],” she continued. “You’re fine, but you seem very scripted and artificial to me, if I’m honest. You don’t speak from the heart.”
As for Obama’s 2024 Democratic National Convention speech: “You didn’t move me at all… you felt a little recycled and tired, if I’m being honest.”
“The reason they wrote about your fashion is because yes, you’re a woman. It wasn’t to diminish you,” Kelly said. “They do it to every female politician. And it’s not to diminish them. It’s because it’s interesting. It’s part of your look. It’s part of your messaging.”
She pointed out that Obama has appeared on the cover of fashion magazines numerous times and published her own fashion book, The Look, last year.
“She wants to be known for her fashion, but it has to be on her terms,” Kelly said. “She finds grievance in everything.”
“So f— off with this grievance nonsense. You’re not aggrieved. It doesn’t make anybody a misogynist… Stop making everything an attack on you, you thin-skinned person. It’s just ridiculous.”

“This is what poor Barack has been dealing with for 20, 30 years now. I mean, no wonder the guy is so gray so prematurely,” Kelly said. “No wonder the girls fled the coop and you never see pictures really with the four of them. I’m sure they’re so happy to be rid of this non-stop Negative Nelly all the time.”
“The thing about Michelle Obama is, she’s always negative. Everything she says has a negative spin on it. She’s negative about the country. She’s negative about her time as First Lady. She’s very negative about her husband.”
“She did not marry the right person. It’s not a good match. She almost never says anything nice about him.”
Michelle Obama has not responded.
