Just how radical has the Democratic Party become? Like the Soviet Union, they’re now demanding full state-sponsored censorship of wrong think.
Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is demanding mainstream media news networks refuse to air a speech from President Donald Trump on Thursday.
Trump announced Monday on Truth Social that he will deliver a primetime “Speech to the Nation” on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET. On Tuesday, AOC was about her thoughts on the upcoming address.
She wants Trump silenced.
“He’s basically doing a made-for-TV broadcast about election fraud and conspiracy theories,” AOC claimed. “I don’t think we should be contributing to the platforming of lies about our elections. Many news outlets oftentimes may receive transcripts in advance, and I think we have an ethical obligation not to air things that undermine our elections that are not rooted in evidence and in fact.”
What Trump actually plans to say on Thursday is still coming together. When a reporter asked Tuesday if the speech concerns elections, Trump confirmed it would but kept them guessing.
“It will concern that subject and we’ll have a couple of other things to say also,” the president said. “It’s really, big news. It’s really, REALLY BIG news. It doesn’t get bigger because without free and fair elections, you don’t have a country.”
“We’ll be discussing other things too, but it’s going to be a very big announcement.”
Multiple reports indicate Trump will unveil newly declassified intelligence findings on foreign interference in the 2020 election, including potential Chinese access to U.S. voter data and involvement by Venezuela. Trump will also detail what his administration is calling voting machine vulnerabilities.
Trump will use the speech to push for the SAVE America Act, the voter ID and proof-of-citizenship bill that is the White House’s top legislative priority.
The renewed war with Iran will reportedly be addressed as well, per an adviser who told Axios it’s “changing by the minute, but it’s something he wants to address.”
The irony of AOC’s pre-censorship demand was not lost on conservatives. Democrats and the media spent the better part of five years, from 2015 through 2020, insisting that Russian interference in American elections was a clear and present danger worthy of congressional investigations, special counsels, and nightly prime-time coverage.
Now that Trump has declassified intelligence which shows the same thing happened in 2020, it becomes a conspiracy theory that must be censored by the state.
“It’s really, really big for us and our country has to shape up,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “But that’s what we’re going to be talking about.”
