They were political allies in December, appearing together at a joint anti-Iranian nuclear deal rally. But as the 2016 Republican primary slogged along, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Billionaire businessman Donald Trump’s relationship fell to pieces.

But are the two finally set to bury the hatchet?

Cruz has accepted an invitation by Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, to speak at the Republican National Convention.

While Cruz has stated that he is not ready to endorse Trump quite yet, political analysts are expecting a reconciliation before the Texas senator’s appearance in Cleveland in two weeks.

Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said in a statement Thursday after the senator met with Trump that there was not yet any discussion of endorsement, but confirmed that Trump did ask Cruz to speak at the convention and he agreed.

The statement said Trump also asked for Cruz’s counsel on future judicial nominees, “and Cruz responded he would continue to do everything he can to help ensure principled constitutionalists on the courts.”

This is a good development for both Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruz. Hopefully both men learned the hard truth about Presidential campaigns. But maybe this is Mr. Cruz’ last Presidential run. I think he has more value on the Supreme Court.
