Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a clever proposal for Washington’s problem with the Deep State and establishment politicians on Thursday: instead of more congressional hearings, subpoenas, and impeachment resolutions… lets just fight it out?
Rubio’s clever idea cracked up an audience at the State Department while discussing UFC Freedom 250, the mixed martial arts event held Sunday on the South Lawn of the White House that coincided with President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and held to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary.
“We’re never going to see anything like that again, guys, ever,” Rubio told the crowd. “What they’ve built out there is phenomenal. We’ll never see it again. Although, the president’s threatening to leave it permanently.”
“Maybe we’ll just host weekly fights between people in politics and settle our scores that way,” Rubio quipped.

Earlier in the day, Rubio had stood alongside UFC CEO Dana White at a White House signing ceremony to formalize a public-private partnership between the U.S. government and UFC.
“When President Kennedy announced that we were going to put a man on the moon and return him safely to the earth, no one thought that was possible — and we did it,” Rubio said. “We are a nation founded on doing what no one else dared to do, and no one else aspired to do. And at some level, that’s what this whole company, what UFC has been.”
The demand for tickets to Sunday’s event has grown so intense among foreign governments that Rubio said it threatened to become a diplomatic incident.
“The number of foreign leaders that want to come to this is unbelievable,” he told State Department staff, drawing more laughs. “It’s to the point where we may have a diplomatic crisis — because it’s like we can’t bring everybody, and some of them don’t even have a fighter in the fight.”
