The FBI has confirmed they have proof of major irregularities in how votes were counted in Georgia’s Fulton County during the 2020 election.
FBI agents are actively looking for concrete evidence that those major irregularities were done intentionally, or if they were accidents.
FBI Special Agent Hugh Raymond Evans filed the affidavit in January to establish probable cause for a raid that seized approximately 700 boxes of 2020 election ballots from a storage warehouse in the Atlanta area.
The investigation originated from a referral by Kurt Olsen, who serves as President Donald Trump’s White House election integrity director.
“Some of those allegations have been disproven while some of those allegations have been substantiated, including through admissions by Fulton County,” Evans wrote in the affidavit. “This warrant application is part of an FBI criminal investigation into whether any of the improprieties were intentional acts that violated federal criminal laws.”
The affidavit identified five major categories of fraud or irregularities in Fulton County’s handling of the 2020 election, many of which were previously reported by Just the News.
According to the affidavit, Fulton County has admitted it does not have scanned images of all 528,777 ballots counted during the original count or the 527,925 ballots counted during the state’s first recount.
The missing evidence would be a significant loss of election documentation.
The county also confirmed that ballots were scanned multiple times during the recount.
“Ballot images made available in response to public record requests show ballots with unique markings duplicated within the ballot images,” the affidavit stated.
“The State’s Performance Review Board reported that Secretary of State investigators confirmed inaccurate batch tallies from the Risk Limiting Audit,” it continued.
During this Risk Limiting Audit, auditors reported counting absentee ballots that had “never been creased or folded, as would be required for the ballot to be mailed to the voter and for the ballot to be returned in the sealed envelope requiring the voter’s signature for authentication.”
Perhaps most significantly, on the deadline day to report recount results, Fulton County initially reported 511,343 total ballots, which was 17,434 ballots fewer than the original count.
“The following day, Fulton County then reported a total of 527,925 ballots counted,” the affidavit noted.
The FBI affidavit referenced a contractor sent by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to observe voting in Fulton County who documented widespread confusion, mistakes, and suspicious irregularities in the vote count. Gov. Brian Kemp also referred Fulton County for investigation based on information about ballot miscounting.
Despite the documented concerns, Raffensperger maintained that none of the problems affected the outcome of Joe Biden defeating Trump in Georgia by a narrow 11,800 votes.
However, a top lieutenant to Raffensperger turned witness told the FBI he was unaware of how some of the irregularities could have happened — and admitted they could be fraud.
“The Director of Elections for the Georgia Secretary of State in 2020, was not aware of physical ballots not matching the number of ballot images. Wit. 4 said a discrepancy like that would be problematic but did not know if anyone went back and checked that,” the affidavit stated.
Auditors “did not audit for issues like image discrepancies. He said the images are just duplicates. It would be more concerning if there was discrepancies between physical ballots and voter count,” the witness said. “The concern is less about the images and more about the ballots and voter count.”
Olsen, who now serves in the Trump administration, previously worked with the president’s legal team following the 2020 election and was involved in Trump’s numerous legal challenges in multiple swing states, including Georgia.
Federal agents executed the search warrant on Jan. 28 at Fulton County’s Election Hub and Operation Center, and reportedly seized 656 boxes of materials. County officials had indicated in a sworn affidavit that more than 700 boxes of election records existed at the location.
Raffensperger, who is currently running for governor, blasted the FBI investigation as “baseless” in a statement released Tuesday.
“As Secretary of State, I’ve made Georgia the safest and most secure place to vote,” Raffensperger said. “Instead of wasting time and tax dollars trying to change the past with baseless and repackaged claims, let’s focus our efforts on building a safer, more affordable future for all hardworking Georgians.”
