Nancy Pelosi’s replacement is already making his moves… and he hasn’t even formally won the June Democratic primary yet.
California State Sen. Scott Wiener, Pelosi’s heir apparent in California’s heavily Democratic 11th district, demanded President Donald Trump’s impeachment over the successful Venezuela operation on Friday.
Wiener issued a statement Friday declaring Trump’s capture of Venezuelan’s bloody communist dictator Nicolas Maduro an “illegal invasion” and “lawless coup” that is “yet another impeachable offense.”
“Trump has no legal authority to invade Venezuela, given lack of authorization by Congress,” Wiener said in the statement. “This lawless act is yet another impeachable offense by this thug President.”
It is Wiener’s most forceful move into national politics despite not holding federal office. California’s 11th Congressional District is rated D+36, making the June 2026 Democratic primary the de facto election for the seat.
Wiener, 55, announced his plan to replace Pelosi in October, breaking his previous promise to wait until Pelosi formally retired.
Under pressure, Pelosi then announced in November she would not seek a 21st term as San Francisco’s representative in Congress.
Emboldened, Wiener has jumped into national politics and accused Trump of invading Venezuela to “distract the public” from “his polling numbers in the toilet, the Epstein scandal growing, and the American economy struggling.”
“This reckless and illegal invasion of Venezuela — with full regime change — is designed to distract the public and to extract Venezuela’s oil wealth for Trump’s benefit and the benefit of his cronies,” Wiener said.
“Trump must be impeached and removed from office immediately.”
One of Wiener’s only remaining rivals for Pelosi’s seat is Saikat Chakrabarti, 39, a self-identified socialist who previously served as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign manager and her chief of staff.
The primary election is in June 2026, with the general election in November 2026. Pelosi’s term officially expires in January 2027.
It’s never been about helping Venezuelans. It’s always been about the oil, about the money, about the control, specifically his personal control — “that money will be controlled by me.” He’s a crime boss & should be treated as such. He should be removed from office ASAP. pic.twitter.com/suhbXB97rg
