A bizarre story from The New York Post has gone viral, claiming that conservative star Tucker Carlson told journalist Olivia Nuzzi she should fear for her life — and offered to send her a shotgun.
According to The Post report, Carlson reached out after news broke of her alleged affair with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The report used Nuzzi’s ex-fiance Ryan Lizza as its source.
Carlson also reportedly believed the scandal was part of a “grander deep-state plot” to “destroy Trump by destroying Bobby,” Lizza wrote Wednesday.
Is it a conspiracy theory? Or truth? The report has followed increasingly strange claims involving the journalist, Kennedy, and an alleged public breakup that has captivated social media.
Lizza, a former Politico correspondent, claimed Carlson had become one of Nuzzi’s confidants during the scandal and warned her about Kennedy’s security adviser, Gavin de Becker, who Lizza described as a “Bond villain” figure.
“At one point, Olivia told Tucker Carlson about the details of one of de Becker’s calls to her,” Lizza wrote. “Tucker told her she should fear for her life and offered to send her a shotgun.” According to Lizza, Carlson later had dinner with Kennedy, where they “debated how high up the plot to destroy Bobby went.”
“Tucker, by then, was telling people, including Olivia, that Bobby was being blackmailed by Israel,” Lizza wrote. “And in terms of conspiracy theorists, he was like the Alex Jones to Bobby’s Oliver Stone.”
The allegations, while sensational, come entirely from one source – a man who has published detailed accounts of his failed relationship with Nuzzi. The former couple had been engaged and were contracted to co-write a book about the 2024 election before the relationship collapsed amid the Kennedy scandal.
Nuzzi has accused Lizza of harassment, hacking her devices, spying on her, attempting to blackmail her, and threatening physical violence, and is obtaining to get a restraining order against him.
“This is another example of why Ms. Nuzzi sought the intervention of the DC Superior Court in 2024 amid a harassment campaign that is still ongoing and has now lasted more than 16 months,” her lawyer said.
Kennedy is currently serving as Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Trump administration, having endorsed Trump after suspending his own presidential campaign.
