First Lady Melania Trump unveiled the 2025 White House Christmas decorations Monday with the theme “Home Is Where the Heart Is.”
The First Lady’s office released a video showcasing the elegant holiday display throughout the People’s House.
Mrs. Trump selected the decorations and led an army of 150 volunteers for one week to install using 25,000 feet of ribbon and more than 10,000 butterflies.
“The constant movement has taught me that home is not merely a physical space; rather, it is the warmth and comfort I carry within, regardless of my surroundings,” Mrs. Trump said in a statement. “This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves, and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with grace, radiance, and endless possibilities.”
The First Lady appointed renowned designer Hervé Pierre, her personal stylist, to oversee implementation of her creative vision.

The official White House Christmas Tree, an 18-foot fir tree from Sidney, Michigan, stands in the Blue Room. The tree commemorates Gold Star Families with gold stars and ornaments representing the official bird and flower of every U.S. state and territory.
This is a change from previous years, as the East Wing was demolished in October as part of President Donald Trump’s plan to build a much-needed new ballroom. The Gold Star Families tree was traditionally displayed in the East Wing.
The East Room features patriotic red, white, and blue decorations with golden eagle tree toppers. It highlights the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. The Green Room celebrates family fun with two 6,000-piece Lego portraits of President Donald Trump and President George Washington.
The Red Room honors the First Lady’s Fostering the Future initiative with thousands of blue butterflies adorning the tree, creating what the White House called a “transformational experience” dedicated to those within the foster care system.
The State Dining Room displays the 2025 Gingerbread House, weighing more than 120 pounds, while the Grand Foyer, which is currently undergoing restoration by the White House Curators, features a section of the historic White House nativity scene.
“As Americans explore the historic rooms of the White House this holiday season, the 2025 Christmas decorations serve as a reminder that the strength of our Nation is found in its people—in our shared values, valued traditions, and the steadfast belief that home is where the heart is,” the White House said in a statement.
