New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is at the center of a federal mortgage fraud indictment, is now involved in a police investigation involving criminal activity taking place at multiple homes owned by the embattled attorney.
According to multiple reports, two houses at the center of James’ fraud case have allegedly been subject to frequent police activity since she bought them, with cops dispatched two dozen times.
According to The New York Post, James’ grandniece, Nakia Thompson, 36, moved into one home with her three children soon after James closed on the house in August 2020, for which she paid $137,000.
Since then, cops have been summoned to the residence on 12 occasions, according to police records — including several instances in which they were called multiple times in a day.
As previously reported by The Horn News, Thompson has been living rent-free in the Norfolk, VA home since 2020 with her three children. Thompson is wanted in North Carolina for absconding from probation and has been arrested twice for assaulting police officers, court documents show.
According to the report, cops went out to the house for issuing warrants and subpoenas, as well as for incidents labeled vandalism, domestic issues and for suspicious persons.
Thompson’s alleged fugitive status stems from a 2011 arrest in Winston-Salem, NC where she was charged with malicious conduct by a prisoner, along with assault of a government official and resisting a public officer.
She later pled down to assault of a government official and resisting a public officer, and received a 60-day jail sentence.
However, Thompson has racked up additional charges in Virginia since moving to James’ home.
In 2020, the same year she moved into James’ home, Thompson pled guilty to petit and grand larceny charges, both felonies. She was given two years probation and ordered to pay $2,020 in fees. She also had a handful of misdemeanor charges dropped, along with a felony burglary tools possession charge.
Thompson has also accumulated nine separate vehicle offenses.
In July, she was hit with four citations in a single day, including driving 80 mph in a 55 zone and stopping her vehicle improperly on a highway.
Late last month, Thompson was charged with profane, threatening, or indecent language over public airways, a misdemeanor, after allegedly threatening to punch her child’s assistant principal after calling her a “bald-headed bitch.”
James’ other Norfolk-area residence, purchased in 2023 via a $219,780 mortgage loan, is inhabited by her other grandniece OnlyFans-model Cayla Thompson-Hairston, 21, as well as her mother, Shamice Thompson-Hairston, and sister Courtney.
That property has also had repeated police calls, with 10 visits by officers between April 2024 and April 2025, according to The Post report.
The homes, which have become a police magnet, have landed James in legal hot water.
Last month James was indicted on federal bank fraud charges, which allege she misrepresented how she would use the property she bought in 2020 in order to obtain a more favorable loan interest rate.
The other house, which she bought in 2023, was the subject of a criminal referral on similar allegations.
James, who denies any wrongdoing in the bank fraud charges, faces up to 60 years in federal prison if convicted.
