President Donald Trump made a major move and ordered the Department of Justice to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden.
Trump posted on Truth Social that the 2020 election was stolen – and he wants justice.
“Zero Border crossings for the month for TRUMP, verses 60,000 for Sleepy, Crooked Joe Biden, a man who lost the 2020 Presidential Election by a ‘LANDSLIDE!'” Trump wrote. “Biden was grossly incompetent and the 2020 election was a total FRAUD! The evidence is MASSIVE and OVERWHELMING. A Special Prosecutor must be appointed.”
Trump’s call came days after FBI Director Kash Patel declassified documents about alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 election.

The documents contain claims from an FBI confidential source that Chinese actors planned to mass-produce fake driver’s licenses to facilitate thousands of fraudulent mail-in ballots.
The FBI received this tip in August 2020, but intelligence reports were recalled and the bureau never fully investigated the allegations. Former FBI Director Christopher Wray ordered the report destroyed.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley received the documents and is demanding more information.
“The document alleges serious national security concerns that need to be fully investigated by the FBI,” a Grassley spokesperson said. “Grassley is requesting additional documentation from the FBI to verify the production, and is urging the FBI to do its due diligence to investigate why the document was recalled, who recalled it and inform the American people of its findings.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized nearly 20,000 counterfeit driver’s licenses at Chicago O’Hare International Airport during the first half of 2020. Most of the fake licenses arrived from China and Hong Kong.
Republican allies praised Trump’s call for a special prosecutor.
Senior White House advisor Kari Lake wrote that “this is the most important issue of our time. We need a Special Prosecutor ASAP and they need to start in their [sic] investigation in Arizona.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna posted that “the FBI declassified documents exposing a CCP plot to influence the 2020 election with fake ballots. Now Trump wants to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate this corruption. THIS is the accountability the American people want to see!”
Trump and his supporters filed dozens of lawsuits after the 2020 election, challenging the results in various states. Most failed due to what judges determined was lack of standing. Trump’s own attorney general in 2020, Bill Barr, said there was no evidence of fraud that could have affected the outcome.
Vice President Mike Pence rejected Trump’s demand to delay certification of the Electoral College results on January 6, 2021.
Undeterred, Trump wrote that Biden’s actions over four years were “grossly indescribable. This cannot be allowed to happen again in the United States of America! Let the work begin! What this Crooked man, and his CORRUPT CRONIES, have done to our Country in 4 years, is grossly indescribable! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
