Even the most radical Democrat knows the government can’t stay closed forever—so liberals are beginning to fantasize about finding a candidate who can unseat Republicans in 2028.
One of the Democratic Party’s most popular figures just told an interviewer he knows the one person who could pull together enough voters to break the electoral juggernaut that President Donald Trump has assembled in the MAGA-MAHA coalition.
Senator Bernie Sanders says it’s the politician most closely associated with his brand of democratic socialist: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
Sanders placed his bet on the former Bronx socialist during an interview with Axios released on Thursday.
The reporter asked Sanders, “Do you think AOC) would be a formidable presidential candidate as someone who’s done it twice,” in 2016 and 2020.
“Yeah, I do,” said Sanders. “I happen to think she is an incredibly intelligent person and, in the best sense of the word, a very, very good politician.”
He added, while she’s “a great speaker” and “incredibly inspiring,” there are still “a lot of other people” might make good presidential hopefuls in 2028 or later.
There are “literally dozens” of Democrats who could help lead the far-Left, said Sanders—specifically naming the most radical members of Congress: Ilhan Omar from Somalia by way of Minnesota, Pramilia Jayapal from Washington, and Maxwell Front of Florida.
Their success “gives me a lot of optimism about our political future,” said socialist Sanders.
But Omar cannot run for president, and the other candidates have no national recognition—unlike AOC, whom insiders admit has been secretly plotting a 2028 presidential campaign.
Having Bernie Sanders’ endorsement won’t hurt.
Sanders—a democratic socialist who is technically an independent but votes to the Left of the Democrats—ranks as one of the most popular Democrats in America, just a few points behind Barack Obama, according to a recent YouGov poll. (AOC ranks fifth, behind Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, who is definitely not running in 2028.)
What’s more, Sanders isn’t the only major Democrat to praise the former bartender who was known for most of her life by the nickname “Sandy.”
AOC has even won the praise of someone who could be a 2028 challenger: former Vice President Kamala Harris. While Harris’ new book, 107 Days, trashes all her other supporters, she praises AOC as someone who “goes deep into policy” and gives off a “joyful-warrior vibe” that will help “make her an invaluable leader.”
Those words may come back to haunt her, since Harris currently ranks as the Democrats’ number-one choice for the 2028 presidential nomination, according to a new poll from The Center Square. Harris won 33 percent of Democrats, with California Governor Gavin Newsom in second place at 13 points. AOC trailed way behind in third place at just eight percent.
That support could dry up, as Americans learn about AOC’s misguided policies, ultra-fringe views, and lack of intelligence.
While Sanders told Axios that AOC “comes from the working class,” The Horn News told you AOC signed onto a boycott that would starve other bartenders and waitresses in order to feed union fat cats. She and the entire Democratic congressional establishment pledged not to set foot inside six capital-area restaurants which refuse to join the labor union UNITE HERE.
Then there’s the problem of the “incredibly intelligent” congresswoman’s real knowledge—which Bernie Sanders should know better than anybody.
AOC was sitting right next to Bernie during an October 15 town hall on CNN when she said, at one time, “Rivers were on fire because of corporations poisoning the people who lived in those areas, poor, middle-class communities getting poisoned and dumped on by corporations like Deloitte and 3M, pouring chemicals into these places.” CNN Kaitlan Collins
Deloitte is an accounting firm based in the UK.
There’s no doubt her socialist policies would flood every American home by pouring rivers of red ink into the economy.
AOC can also count on her 2028 primary opponents playing her 2018 interview with The Firing Line, where she couldn’t explain her own words about Israel creating an “occupation” of Palestine.
She didn’t look presidential; she looked like an airhead—and unlike Joe Biden in 2020 or Kamala Harris in 2024, she won’t face opponents who are willing to step aside and crown her as their queen without a fight.

Remember when #AOC came from behind a bar to being the Democrats’ NYC congressional nominee, and was immediately exposed as ignorant and naive about Middle Eastern affairs on “Firing Line” (by a *supportive* Margaret Hoover)?

Harris, Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, and numerous others want the 2028 presidential nod so bad they can taste it—and they’ll have no problem raking the former waitress over the coals.
On the other hand, Republican polls seem to show the MAGA coalition is united behind Vice President J.D. Vance, who would wipe the bar with Ocasio-Cortez in every swing state.
The Democratic Party put all its eggs in elevating Donald Trump, believing that Americans would see him as a joke and elect Hillary Clinton in 2016. Then, they could flood the country with illegal aliens, give them amnesty (or let them vote illegally), and make America a permanently Democratic socialist country.
Trump defeated them in 2016. Vance will do the same in 2028. And you will stop the socialists from ever remaking our beloved country—if you remain eternally vigilant about protecting the Constitution.
