Billionaire Democratic donor George Soros finally broke his silence regarding the threat of potential federal racketeering charges issued by President Donald Trump last month after he called for his prosecution for funding “violent protests” across America.
Late last month, President Trump posted on Truth Social that the 95-year-old Soros and his son Alex, who leads the family’s Open Society Foundations, “should be charged with RICO,” referring to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act typically used to combat organized crime.
“We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE,” Trump wrote.
“Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you!”
But despite the serious charges, Soros continues to maintain “100% innocence.”
The Open Society Foundations, founded by Soros, issued a forceful rebuttal yesterday to claims made by the Trump administration and the Justice Department.
In a letter written by Michael Vachon, a senior adviser to Soros, the organization denied allegations that it or Soros has engaged in unlawful activity or promoted violence, calling the claims “100 percent false” and politically motivated.
According to Vachon, the issue started when the DOJ issued a directive last week instructing federal prosecutors to investigate Soros and OSF.
The decision, reportedly encouraged by repeated accusations from the Trump administration, suggests that the foundations may be involved in activities deemed hostile to the U.S. government.
OSF’s response to the DOJ asserts that the move represents a clear attempt by political leaders to weaponize the justice system against dissenting voices.
The Vachon letter continued, downplaying OSF’s role:
“The Trump Administration has repeatedly made false claims about OSF and George Soros. Allegations that George or OSF are in any way engaged in unlawful activity or in fomenting or promoting violence are 100 percent false.”
Vachon emphasized that these accusations are rooted not in fact but in politics.
Founded in 1979, Open Society Foundations operates in more than 100 countries, funding initiatives dedicated to human rights, democratic governance, education, and public health.
According to reports, its U.S. activities have a left-wing bias and include grantmaking to civic groups and advocacy organizations that say they promote voter rights, criminal justice reform, and equitable access to health care.
This is not the first time Trump has accused the Soros network of illegal political interference.
In February, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr opened an investigation into a San Francisco radio station backed by Soros that allegedly broadcast live locations of undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents conducting deportation operations.
KCBS 740 AM, part of Soros’ stake in more than 200 Audacy radio stations purchased last year, came under fire for revealing the specific make, color, and model of unmarked ICE vehicles and the exact locations of agents working in the San Jose area during a January broadcast.
President Trump’s threats of legal action towards Soros have received immediate support from the likes of billionaire ally Elon Musk, who posted that it was “high time action was taken against Soros directly.”
Musk previously blamed Soros for violent protests targeting his Tesla dealerships during his government tenure.
It has also received vocal support from California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton, who took to X to advocate for Soros’ immediate prosecution.
GUESS WHO'S teaming up with Newsom to silence YOUR vote?
George Soros. Funding violent riots, BLM, and woke madness wasn’t enough. Soros, like me a Hungarian immigrant, is a DISGRACE to America. If you hate this country so much, Gyorgy, just leave. We're sick of you.
