[Snap poll] Tariff stimulus checks: Good idea, bad idea?

Revenue from President Donald Trump’s tariffs is now starting to roll in.

And one top Senate Republican says the numbers are so good, he’s proposing a massive round of stimulus checks to put that revenue back into the wallets of American taxpayers.

According to numbers reported by Fox News, Trump’s tariffs have, so far, brought in billions of dollars and have set the administration on a pace to achieve a once lofty goal of $300 billion in total revenue to the federal government from across-the-board duties.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., now wants to see some of that money flow to Americans.

Hawley introduced a bill that would provide families with up to $600 per adult and child, or for a family of four, a total of $2,400.

His bill comes as the Treasury Department announced that through July, the administration’s tariffs have brought in about $28 billion. That’s already $1 billion higher than all of June’s tariff revenue, and brings the total revenue generated by duties for the year to about $150 billion.

However, critics of Hawley’s bill — including many Republicans — believe the revenue should be used to pay down the jaw dropping U.S. debt.

“Shark Tank” personality and Trump advocate Kevin O’Leary said it was a “bad idea” for Congress to consider tariff rebate checks, saying any money raised by higher tariffs should be used to reduce deficits and debt.

“What should be happening now with any extra income is to pay down the national debt,” O’Leary said during a Tuesday appearance on CNN’s “NewsNight with Abby Phillip.”

While details of the proposed legislation are still being sifted through, we want to hear from you.

Are tariff checks a good idea? Or should that money be used to pay down our debt?

Let’s hear from you —

Do you think $600 checks from tariff revenue are a good idea?
