Suspect arrested in murder attempt on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

Federal authorities have arrested a 64-year-old Maryland man they say made calculated attempts on the life of Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and her family.

Seth Jason, a former Voice of America employee and reserve police officer, was arrested by the United States Capitol Police (USCP) and is facing a four-count indictment for allegedly influencing a federal official by threatening a family member, influencing a federal official by threat, interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure and anonymous telecommunications harassment, according to a statement obtained by Fox News.

During a Thursday news conference, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said the threats were made “repeatedly and continuously” from October 2023 through the end of January this year.

Pirro told reporters that Jason was accused of making statements including, “I’m looking forward to your book signing. We are all armed and ready to take care of you. We’re coming after you and your staff, and we are locked and loaded. We’re going to take you all out. We’ve got our AK-47s. You’re going to get one between the eyes. Bam, bam, bam.”

The investigation also revealed that staff members at Greene’s offices were also threatened, including the staff members’ families, according to Pirro.

Pirro said Jason was a “rogue” former full-time federal government employee at Voice of America.

She said he used phones in the control rooms where broadcasters were reporting to make the threats.

Despite the on-going threats and investigation, Greene issued a statement indicating her relief.

“For 15 months, I received terrifying death threats from one individual who worked alarmingly close to my office building at the Voice of America,” Greene wrote in a statement.

“That kind of sustained, targeted harassment is deeply disturbing. I truly feared for my life, as I do with all of the death threats I receive. I want to thank U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, Senior Advisor Kari Lake, the Capitol Police, and the prosecutors who took this threat seriously and acted decisively to stop someone who was planning to kill me. Threatening an elected official, their family, or their staff is not free speech; it’s a crime, and it must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. My family and I are incredibly grateful. Justice must be served.”

Jason, who was a volunteer reserve officer with the Anne Arundel County Police Department, is no longer associated with the agency, a spokesperson told for the department told the media.

This is not the first instance of threats against Greene.

As previously reported by The Horn News, Greene was forced to close her district office after death threats against her family.

“I’m going to kill her next week. I’m going to murder her,” the caller said, according to a video obtained by local media. “You don’t think you’re going to get payback? You’re going to die. Your family is going to die.”
