Iran launched a missile attack on the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday after U.S. surgical strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Iran conducted a “powerful and destructive missile attack” on Al-Udeid Air Base, the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East and forward headquarters for U.S. Central Command.
The base houses about 10,000 American troops and is located outside Doha, the capital of Qatar.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on Almighty God and the faithful, proud people of Iran, will never leave any aggression against its territorial integrity, sovereignty, or national security unanswered,” the Revolutionary Guard said in a statement.
President Donald Trump ordered strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend after the Iranian’s refused to negotiate a peaceful solution to stop their nuclear proliferation efforts.
Qatar’s defense ministry said air defenses “successfully” intercepted the entire missile attack, and that the strike did not result in any deaths or injuries. However, explosions were reported near the base during the attack. Trump had visited Al-Udeid Air Base last month, becoming the first commander in chief to visit since 2003.
“No visit in the Gulf would be complete without stopping to salute the people who keep America safe, strong and free,” Trump told troops at the base on May 17.
The U.S. military said it tracked multiple missiles fired from Iran toward American military installations in both Qatar and Iraq. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Caine are reportedly in the White House Situation Room monitoring the situation.
U.S. personnel at embassies in Qatar and Bahrain were reportedly placed in “duck and cover” protective posture as the missiles approached. The U.S. Embassy in Qatar urged American citizens to shelter in place during the attack.
Qatar’s government closed its airspace and suspended flights as a “precautionary measure.”
Earlier Monday, Israel launched what the Israeli Defense Ministry called an “unprecedentedly powerful strike” against an expanded set of targets across Iran — including a strike at the main gate of the notorious Evin prison, where human rights activists and political prisoners are kept by the Islamic regime.
Evin Prison is the most feared regime political prison in Iran. The site of notorious torture of countless human rights activists.

American officials had been preparing for the likelihood that Iran could target U.S. military facilities following the weekend nuclear strikes, with the Pentagon monitoring potential threats to military installations across the region.
