Tech billionaire Elon Musk spent election night at Mar-a-Lago with Donald Trump, capping months of support that included $119 million in Super PAC donations and controversial battleground state voter giveaways.
“The people of America gave @realDonaldTrump a crystal clear mandate for change tonight,” Musk wrote on X.
Trump later praised Musk during his victory speech at the Palm Beach Convention Center, specifically highlighting SpaceX’s rocket landing achievements.
The president-elect has indicated he would bring Musk into his administration to tackle government inefficiency.
Musk has dubbed the potential role the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) — a play on a meme — though specific details remain unclear.
But joining the Trump White House isn’t certain.
Along with Wall Street, Musk’s companies could see significant benefits from a second Trump presidency and economy. SpaceX, which dominates government satellite launches, has recently expanded into spy satellite construction as Pentagon spending in that sector is poised to increase.
Tesla could benefit from Trump’s promised “lowest regulatory burden,” particularly as the automaker faces a federal probe into its self-driving systems.
The tech mogul’s support for Trump intensified after the July assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Beyond financial backing, Musk conducted controversial get-out-the-vote efforts including daily $1 million giveaways in battleground states, which survived legal challenges.
