Retired four-star General Frank McKenzie, who previously led U.S. forces in the Middle East, has raised concerns about Iran’s intentions towards former President Donald Trump — and said that Iran is increasingly desperate to keep the Biden-Harris regime in power.
In a recent interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” McKenzie suggested that Iran is actively trying to prevent Trump’s return to the presidency.
“The principle goal of Iranian statecraft is regime preservation,” McKenzie stated. “They view the election of President Trump as a direct threat to that regime preservation.”
The general emphasized the seriousness of the situation of Iran interfering on behalf of Harris — including murdering Trump for her.
“I have no doubt believing that Iran is very active in its attempts to go after the former president, as well as other officials,” McKenzie said.
“What’s driving their behavior is desperation,” he explained. “It’s actually the same sort of desperation that drove the massive attack on Israel of three or four nights ago.”
The former commander also criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to the region, particularly regarding potential Israeli responses to Iranian aggression.
“You should never take a potential target off the menu,” McKenzie said about Biden’s mismanagement of the situation and a reference to the administration’s demand that Israel should not target Iran’s nuclear facilities.
McKenzie’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, following Iran’s missile strike against Israel and ongoing conflicts involving Iranian proxies in Lebanon and Gaza.
