In a dramatic turn of events, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski publicly confronted their network’s leadership on Tuesday while live on-air — and threatened to quit if they didn’t get their way.
The two liberal network stars expressed outrage over the sudden removal of their show from the air on Monday following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Scarborough and Brzezinski have spent nearly 10 years since Trump first joined politics telling their viewers that the Republican presidential candidate was Hitler.
The high-profile dispute began when MSNBC made the unexpected decision to replace “Morning Joe” with NBC News special reporting on Monday morning.
According to a CNN report, this move was motivated by fears that an anti-Trump hosts or their guests might make inappropriate comments that would embarrass the network. An NBCUniversal spokesperson has denied this claim.
Upon their return to air on Tuesday, Scarborough and Brzezinski wasted no time in addressing the controversy.
Scarborough revealed that they had been told “in no uncertain terms” on Sunday evening that there would be a single news feed across all NBC News channels throughout Monday.
“We don’t know why that didn’t happen. Our team was not given a good answer as to why that didn’t happen — but it didn’t happen,” Scarborough stated, his frustration evident. He added that they were “very surprised” and “very disappointed” by the turn of events.
The hosts’ public rebuke of MSNBC’s leadership marks a significant escalation in the growing tension between on-air talent and management.
Scarborough even threatened to quit, declaring, “Next time we are told there’s going to be a newsfeed replacing us, we will be in our chairs. The newsfeed will be us or they can get somebody else to host the show.”

This incident has shed light on the challenges faced by liberal news organizations who have spent years calling Trump a dictator.
The decision to pull “Morning Joe” was reportedly made by NBCUniversal News Group chairman Cesar Conde and MSNBC president Rashida Jones.
As of Tuesday, MSNBC and NBCUniversal had not publicly responded to requests for comment on the situation.
This public dispute between MSNBC’s star hosts and network management raises questions about editorial control and the balance of power between high-profile hosts and network executives.
