Rep. Lauren Boebert expected to win primary

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert faces a tough primary election in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District on Tuesday — but is still expected to win despite months of media attacks.

Boebert, known for her strong support of former President Donald Trump, switched to this more Republican-leaning district after nearly losing her previous seat in 2022. She has dominated polls in the district.

Boebert’s campaign has been complicated by recent controversies, including a video of her causing a disturbance at a theater. She’s running against several other Republican candidates, some are former state legislators.

The winner of this primary is likely to win the general election, as the district is heavily conservative.

In another closely watched race, the 5th Congressional District primary features Dave Williams, the current state GOP chair, against Jeff Crank. Williams has faced criticism for using his party position to boost his campaign and for controversial statements about LGBTQ+ issues.

The 8th Congressional District, a newly created and competitive area, is also drawing attention. Republican candidates are competing to challenge the incumbent Democratic representative in what’s expected to be a close general election.

Meanwhile, in Boebert’s old district (the 3rd), several Republicans are vying to become the nominee.

The winner will likely face Democrat Adam Frisch, who nearly beat Boebert in 2022 and has raised significant funds for his 2024 campaign.

These primaries highlight the ongoing tensions within the Republican Party between Trump-aligned candidates and more traditional conservatives.

They also demonstrate the importance of these races in determining control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Voters will make their choices on Tuesday, potentially reshaping Colorado’s representation in Congress and influencing the national political landscape.
