A bombing on Easter Sunday killed 70 people in a park in the eastern city of Lahore, Pakistan that was crowded with Christians, including many children.
A breakaway Pakistani faction of the militant Taliban group claimed responsibility. Ahsanullah Ahsan, spokesman for Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, said that a suicide bomber with the faction deliberately targeted the Christian community.
The explosion took place near the children’s rides in Gulshan-e-Iqbal park local police chief Haider Ashraf said. He said the explosion appeared to have been a suicide bombing, but investigations were ongoing.
The attack killed 70 people and wounded over 300, said Deeba Shahnaz, a spokesman for Lahore rescue administration.
Punjab’s chief minister Shahbaz Sharif announced three days of mourning and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice, said Zaeem Qadri, a spokesman for the provincial government.
The park was manned by police and private security guards, police chief Haider Ashraf said. “We are in a warlike situation and there is always a general threat but no specific threat alert was received for this place,” he added.
Schools and businesses in the city will remain closed on Monday, the city’s schools association and the Union of Lahore Traders said.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting to assess the security situation in Lahore, according to a government statement. Pakistan’s army chief, Gen. Raheel Sharif, also convened an emergency meeting of the country’s intelligence agencies to begin to track down those responsible for the attacks, said army spokesman Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa.
Salman Rafiq, a health adviser to the Punjab government, called on people to donate blood, saying that many of those wounded were in a critical condition.
One witness, who wished to be identified only by his first name, Afzal, told AP that he had taken 20 children to hospital and carried three dead bodies to a police car. “I can’t explain to you the tragic situation,” he said.
Another witness, Tariq Mustapha, said that he had just left the park when he heard an explosion. He said his friend was still missing.
Footage broadcast on local television stations showed chaotic scenes in the park, with people running while carrying children and cradling the wounded in their laps.
A witness, not identified by name on Pakistan’s Geo TV station, said he was heading toward a fairground ride with his wife and two children when he heard a huge bang and all four of them were thrown to the floor. A woman was shown crying while looking desperately for her missing 5-year-old son.
A spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council said that the United States “condemns the attack in the strongest terms,” describing it as a “cowardly act in what has long been a scenic and placid park.” Ned Price said the U.S. would continue to work with Pakistan and its partners to “root out the scourge of terrorism.”

I’ll tell you where they are. A female Muslim recently spoke out against the horrific attack in Brussels recently. It wasn’t two days later and she was murdered for speaking out against Islamic terrorism. That is where it is at. All of the peaceful/moderate Muslims know without ever speaking it out loud what the punishment will be for speaking against the so called Radical Islamic terrorists. They have no problem killing their own for any reason but speaking out against terrorists will get you killed in a New York minute.
There are no peaceful muslims, if they were then they would speak out but the Koran says they can’t because it is their religious belief . There are no American muslims in the US as obozo says . If they were they would have to give up the Koran . That comes from the 1952 law on the books about immigration . They have to take an oath and pass the test to be called American muslim.
Their Quran also tells them to lie to the infidel. They have no problem with spewing lies to get their admission into our country. It is not only impossible to vet an Islamic terrorist. It would certainly be of interest to interview several American muslims at random to see what their thoughts are concerning this barbarity…but iirc, the Qu’ran has a specific instruction to muslims that they may lie to non-muslims, and even encourages such lies. Look, I just heard Rush on the radio that in Brussels the left wing instead of questioning why they are allowing refugees into their country, they are blaming right wing protesters that they are soccer thugs that are against refugees. Think about it. They don’t care about people that were killed in the bombings but that right wingers are protesting to stop more refugees from entering the country. The Christian people who died in Pakistan are in a better place than millions of Americans who claim to be Christian but know nothing of their faith. They’re just Christians in name only. I’m thinking that soon American Christians will have to really fight for their faith, since they’re being assaulted from all sides.
Let’s face the facts…. God has been clear about his genocides in the past and presents clear evidence that he is in charge when they are performed. When Moses and Joshua performed genocide, God made clear to his enemies his blessing and involvement by 1st making a Covenment. 2nd, he issued specific commands that directed the battle while providing hosts and angels to assist. God also provided abundant verifiable miracles that disabled and discouraged the enemies. 3rd, God didn’t depend on the military prowess of his people. He only demanded faith for victory. The net result of God’s involvement was that God never lost a battle when his word was followed. The only battles lost were when followers didn’t follow God’s word exactly and God punished them for it. Taking all of this in consideration, it is clear the the Jihad, as practiced by radical Muslims, does not meet any of the clear signs of God’s blessing for genocide of non-believers. Radical Jihad Muslims do not have a documented covenment. They loose battles, they have no divine guidance or support via God provided hosts, angels, or miracles which are demonstrated openly, and for military strategy, use lies, deceit, and suicide to accomplish their goals. Does this sound like God is blessing them? Most assuredly God is not. Jihad radical Muslims are just bullies and makeup anything to fulfill their hateful ways. I can assure you, if God was supporting them…we wouldn’t stand a chance. This assessment is not racist or hateful and is the result of scriptures from the Old Testament that are, ironically, supported by Muslims and Mohammad. Each Muslim should re-evaluate their teachings from scripture which they claim to follow.

I have read the Quran, also spelled Koran. I could not find any passages which called for Hate and Violence, nor the necessity for Torture or Killing. The one which I read had been translated to English. Many of the passages were exact duplications of the Holy Bible. The KJV Holy Bible seems to be the basis for most other bibles. I have read the Holy Bible In Hebrew, Spanish, Chamorro, Tagalog, Hawaiian, and Zulu. The translation of all these other Bibles was close enough to not alter the meaning or intent. therefore, I can assume only that the Koran printed in English Did not loose anything in translation from Arabic. I’m beginning to think that if the Islamic religion can legally be practiced in the United States, I should be allowed to develop a religion based on the killing of people of the Islamic faith. I’m not sure if that would make me a Priest, or Rabbi, or Hussain which in Arabic means “Oh Great Leader”. That being the name of our President should grant me Ordaination.

To reiterate, i think i have a relatively simple solution for Muslim immigrants:
The teaching, practice, and imposition of Sha’ria law on ANYONE in the host country is grounds for immediate deportation to the nearest country which DOES practice Sha’ria. Let them scream “discrimination” all they like; let them whine “religious intolerance” all they like; let them shout “bigot” or “racist” all the plane-or-boat-or-train-or-donkey ride to an Islamic country…but let them know this one unshakeable fact: when they immigrated to a generous country which allowed them in, they agreed to abide by the laws of the host country, not to attempt to impose their own laws; if they don’t LIKE the laws in their new country, they are free to GTHO…peacefully, if possible, in chains – or dead – if not.
Yes, i know that many Muslims consider the practice of Sha’ria to be an essential and non-negotiable article of their faith and religious practices; too damn bad for them, then. Let them stay and suffer where Sha’ria already has full sway, not take advantage of the generosity of peoples sympathetic to the plight of refugees. No one is making them come to another country; they come of their own free will.
That’s the thing i’ve found about Islam; their CLAIM is that they want all to submit to Allah, but in practice, they want people to submit to THEM and their way of worshipping/living, which is nothing more than tyranny – and worse, because if you let them convince you to worship their way and accept Islam – then change your mind?
