Officers cracking down horse diaper law

The west Alabama city of Selma is planning a crackdown on what one councilman says is a big problem: Horse droppings.

The City Council passed a law three years ago requiring that horses wear diapers when on city streets, but Councilman Michael Johnson says riders aren’t following the law.

Johnson says he doesn’t mind people riding horses in the city of 20,000. But he’s bothered by the smell and other sanitary problems created by horses on city streets.

The Selma-Times Journal quotes Police Chief John Brock as saying officers will be stricter enforcing the diaper law. He says the department will issue warnings for a first offense and citations for repeat offenders.

There could be plenty of tickets: Johnson says he’s seen just one diaper-wearing horse in town.

Talk about lowlife city slickers and their demented attacks upon anything rural and not sterile. The city council should all be tossed into a hog pen to see what real smell is all about! Ignorant liberal scum!

Oh say it isn’t so! How embarrassing for those horses! Should they be flogged? I know a solution: Put some of those who don’t want to work and are leeches on our society to WORK scooping those road apples up in exchange for those food stamps and welfare checks.

rediculous, there is nothing in horse droppings that is the least bit offensive, it is recycled grass & grains, it is NOTHING like dog, food or human waste , it is grass and grains – period that turn into dust in about 48 hours , the birds eat it as fast as it hits the ground almost, and it disintigrates almost immediately . specially if someone gives it a kick it just disappears . they can have one city worker go around with a pitchfork and throw it into bush’s & onto tree bases as natural fertilizer ( the best for green grass, blossoming bush’s and green trees , and the problem is solved . to have horses wearing “diapers” is the stupidest thing i ever heard of , these people are totally uneducated on horse “droppings” better known as road apples . leave the horses alone and educate yourself on horse droppings which are healthy for the environment .

Not too difficult when you’re DRIVING a horse (you just tie it to the shafts, but where do you put it when you’re RIDING it? And even with diapers, the horses CAN miss it (speaking from experience-I drove carriage horses in Milwaukee)

Send a herd of 10,000 un-diapered grass fed steers through Selma to let the “more evolved than a toad” city bureaucrats know graphicly what we think of their flea brained regulations. It may give nature a chance to scrub out the cities storm drainage and see how well they care for the infrastructure.

Maybe these horse diapers could be used to cover the other end of a few politicians? Maybe without emptying the horse poop first!!!

Really I mean really. Is this such a horrendous problem that another law needed to be passed? Collect it and send it to Oblamer and he can use it as alternative energy.

Are you kidding? Horses do not wear diapers. What a insult. Maybe all the dogs/cats should be treated the same. But then again who is going to spend time running around checking diapers. Police should be concerned about criminals. The guy that caused this law to be must have some kind of problem located in his head. He needs to be checked. What will happen if crime gets worse because police are running around checking diapers. Is this what is happening in our country? Is it more important to concern law about horse droppings instead of crime?
