VIDEO: Joe Biden slips on stage in Philadelphia

President Joe Biden nearly fell down the stairs when taking the stage in Philadelphia on Friday, adding to a long list of falls and spills the 80-year-old politician has had since taking office — and we have the video.

Biden was in Pennsylvania to use the critical battleground state as a backdrop for some of his favorite political themes, championing steep increases in public spending and claiming that bolstering green energy can spur U.S. manufacturing.

The president also talked about the Israel-Hamas conflict, telling the crowd that he had spoken by video conference with the families of 14 Americans missing in the attacks.

“The more we learned about the attack the more horrifying it becomes,” Biden said.

Any struggle to shift attention to Biden’s domestic agenda highlights larger questions about the president’s overall reelection strategy amid questions over whether the elderly executive is fit for another term.

Biden on Friday insisted the clean energy investment was an investment in the future — one of several initiated by his administration.

Still, selling Biden’s economic agenda to voters wasn’t easy even before the outbreak of war in Gaza. Just 36% of U.S. adults approved of Biden’s handling of the economy in August, slightly lower than the 42% who approved of his overall performance, according to a poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

And that’s if he manages to stay on his feet.
