A bombshell report that has shaken the Republican Party dropped on Friday, accusing married South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and Trump insider Corey Lewandowski of a secret years-long affair.

The accusation, made by The Daily Mail, could shake up the campaign of former President Donald Trump.

Noem has been considered a frontrunner as Trump’s running mate, a potential pick that has been strongly pushed by Lewandowski.

The South Dakota governor has been married since 1993 and has two children with her husband, Byron. Lewandowski has been married since 2005 and has four children with his wife, Allison.

Rumors that the two Republican leaders had been involved circulated for years. In 2021, Noem dismissed a report on their affair by the conservative website American Greatness as “total garbage and a disgusting lie.”

According to The Daily Mail report, there is “extensive evidence” of Noem and Lewandowski’s extramarital infidelity.

A former Trump aide also reportedly wrote about their affair in 2020 in a blog post, and insiders told The Daily Mail that public displays between the two was frequent.

Evidence includes “dozens of trips that mixed business with pleasure, flights on donors’ private planes, and stays at luxury resorts where their intimacy was observed and noted,” The Daily Mail reported.

Noem’s office released a statement attacking the report’s timing and claiming it was in response to her recent endorsement of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.

“This is so predictable that you would attack Governor Noem less than a week after she endorsed Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States,” Noem’s spokesman Ian Fury said.

Fury then quoted Noem’s endorsement speech.

He said —

As Governor Noem said during that endorsement speech: “Yes, I will be attacked for speaking the truth to all of you tonight. Yes, I expect Joe Biden, these candidates, their political operatives, and the media will perpetuate ugly, hateful misinformation in an attempt to destroy me and my family because of my opinions. It’s nothing new. I’m getting used to it honestly.”
