Poll shows Dems in deep, deep trouble

The Democrats hate to watch the news these days, because it’s all bad… and a new poll just made things even worse.

Their party, led by Joe Biden, went all-in — bet the whole political farm — on the idea that they would coast to reelection by doing three things:

  1. Repealing everything Donald Trump did in office for four years
  2. Giving amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, who would supposedly become Democratic voters
  3. Buying off voters with their own money through huge “stimulus” checks.

Remember the newly elected President Biden weirdly whispering, “I got them $1.9 trillion in relief so far”?

Then he bragged about his “Child Tax Credit” and told reporters, “They’re going to be getting checks in the mail that are consequential this week for childcare.”

That “child tax credit” gave parents $250 for each child under 17, or a little more—$300 per child—for kids up through age 6. (Parents are supposed to use this for childcare, so that mothers can get back into the workforce. It never crossed his mind that some women would rather spend time with their children than their boss.)

Add in another $1,400 in “stimulus” checks and that extra $300 a week in unemployment benefits, which paid people not to work, and the dollars and the debt kept piling up. And Democrats assumed the votes would follow.

Like an abusive, alcoholic dad, he thought U.S. voters’ love could be bought… and bought with their own money.

But the polls are back, and the American people don’t love him, or his party, back.

Almost two out of every three Americans had received the child tax credit…but most said it didn’t mean that much to them: only 39% said the checks made a difference in their lives in a new Politico/Morning Consult poll.

And politically, it’s even worse for the Democrats: less than half of Americans thanked the Democrats for the money, and only 38% thanked Biden for the money.

That bad news piles on polls that should discourage Biden and make his party think long and hard about their chances in 2022 and 2024.

A majority of Americans think Joe Biden is not competent to be president, and 52% think he’s not mentally focused on what he’s doing day to day, according to a poll that came out in August.

Back then, Biden had an approval rating that was upside down in 37 states: that is to say, a majority of people in those states disapproved of the job he and Kamala Harris are doing as president, according to a CIVIQS rolling job approval.

Of course, that was right after the Afghanistan debacle, when the president removed all troops but left Americans stranded in Taliban-controlled territory: 70% of Americans disapproved of the way Biden handled that. 17% of Americans under the age of 30—who should be a heavy Democratic constituency—said their view of Biden fell hard after the way he handled Afghanistan in a Generation Lab/Axios poll. 29% of Democrats and 46% of registered independents also thought less of the president after the fall of Kabul.

But if anything, things have gotten even worse since then. Biden’s approval rating has only continued to slide most of the weeks since then.

In a Pew poll released in September, results showed that Joe Biden lost ground among minorities: 18% with black voters, 16% with Hispanics, and 14% with Asian voters.

That lack of trust has touched off a crisis, and now the Biden administration is bleeding support on other issues.

A Quinnipiac poll showed voters don’t trust Biden on inflation, immigration, the economy, taxes…or pretty much any other issue.

Joe Biden is even taking a beating on his signature issue, COVID-19. He won the 2020 election in large part because Americans thought he could handle that issue—but now only 45% of Americans trust Biden’s judgment on the coronavirus, according to an Axios/Ipsos poll.

Now, Biden’s overall job approval is underwater by 9%, according to the Real Clear Politics average of polls.

A poll released last week shows that he only has 38% approval, and 55% of Americans say he is not “competent in running the government.”

It’s so bad that the Democrat running for governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, has blamed his unpopularity on Joe Biden’s bad poll numbers.

“Biden’s poll numbers are cratering to an all-time low,” said Jesse Watters on “The Five” recently.

Some of Biden’s buddies have tried to spin the whole thing away, blaming all of Biden’s failures on Donald Trump. Hollywood star George Clooney told the BBC, “It’s like taking a battered child and thinking everything’s going to be OK his first day in school.”

Anything you say, Batman.

But the voters aren’t buying the spin any more than they’re buying Biden’s failed agenda.
