For years, Republicans have said that Democrats are secretly socialists. Now, the liberals have let the cat out of the bag: They love socialism, and they’d rather have a USSR-style economic system than the American way.
Already facing an uphill battle heading into the 2022 election, it’s the kind of poll House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want voters to see — because it’s not really close.
By a 10-point margin, Democrats prefer socialism to the free enterprise system that built the American economy.
59 percent of registered Democrats support socialism, compared to 49 percent for capitalism. That’s the party average—but for liberals, socialism finds even more supporters: 63 percent of libs say socialism is the way America should go.
For years, Republicans said that under labels like “liberal,” “leftist,” or “progressive,” Democrats were actually hiding their love for a socialist economic and political system that would radically transform the United States into something like the old Soviet Union.
And for years, Democrats would laugh that off and say it was ridiculous “McCarthyism.”
But they can’t do that anymore.
Democrats were even more likely to be hostile to the American free enterprise system than to Soviet socialism. The poll found that 44 percent of Democrats had an unfavorable view of capitalism, but only 31 percent had any negative ideas about socialism.
On that score, at least, the two parties could hardly be more different. Republicans supported economic freedom by a huge margin: 67% supported capitalism, and only eight percent said they wanted to support socialism.
That’s bad news for America. Democrats control every elected part of the U.S. government: the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the White House.
Young people also love socialism…but they don’t know what it means. They think it’s a system where everyone gets everything free without working.
The truth is socialism dug the grave of the Soviet Union, the Eastern Bloc, and every two-bit dictatorship that ever tried it.
Socialism means that the government takes a bigger and bigger role in life—and you have less and less freedom to live your own life.
The government slowly gives out more and more “benefits” to people…and, to pay for it, they tax more and more people until, gradually, the government owns, pays for, provides, and controls everything.
“Ultimately, there is one ‘big business’ — the government,” wrote Alex Parker at RedState.com.
Monopoly is never good, whether it’s the public or private sector.
This poll is a huge swing from a previous poll last February when half of Democrats favored capitalism and 40 percent said they were socialists.
What’s changed since then?
Well, for one thing, the Democrats were running for president in 2020 and knew the American people would never support their radical-leftist views. Now, they’re running the show and don’t feel a need to hide it anymore.
But there’s also the pandemic, where the government has just crammed trillions of dollars into people’s bank accounts without working. Of course, government lockdowns also destroyed their businesses and took away their jobs.
And there’s the fact that more and more elected Democrats are coming out of the closet as socialists. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., ran—and won—as a member of the Democratic Socialists of America…and they appreciate her. “AOC is DSA’s foremost socialist superstar,” the group wrote in March. But now her “Squad” has a new generation of socialists who got elected last November…and they already have their eyes on 2022.
Those socialists hope to transform the government through a $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill that rams through socialist-style spending programs through Congress. They promise to take children out of the home at age three and put them in government-run daycare. They’ll get more people to attend liberal college lectures by giving them two years of community college classes for “free.”
“It’s a gateway to socialism,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told Newsmax. “It’s a down payment on the Green New Deal.”
Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., agreed. “When they talk about human infrastructure, that’s code for socialism,” he said.
There’s some good news: The Democrats are way out of touch with the average American voter. The survey found that almost two out of every three voters have a negative view of socialism, and only 32 percent support Marxist-style economics.
The bad news is: Democrats don’t care. Joe Biden has decided that his word goes. On his command, the government smears anyone who opposes him on mask mandates, wonders if the 2020 election was totally on the level, or holds what he considers “anti-government” views as a possible domestic terrorist.
Socialists don’t ask what the little people do before they act.
At least now, for once, Americans know what they’re dealing with—and they can decide whether they want to keep that party in power in the midterm elections.
