Are grocery prices breaking your bank? According to a new poll, you’re not alone.
86 percent of respondents were concerned about inflation, finds a Fox News Poll from Wednesday.
79 percent blamed the fiscal policies of President Joe Biden.
Even most of the Democrats (64 percent) blamed the Biden administration for inflation!
53 percent of respondents were experiencing financial hardship due to the rising cost of housing, according to the poll.
Even more respondents were concerned about the costs of groceries (70 percent) and gasoline (67 percent), the poll says. Gas prices and grocery prices are causing financial hardship for 70% of people making less than $50,000 per year.
The price of meat spiked, and the price of eggs has increased by 1.6% since June. This spike in prices follows Biden’s repeal of the U.S.D.A.’s order to increase line speeds at poultry processing plants.
One pollster, Chris Anderson, said, “The degree to which lower-income households are feeling the squeeze on food and fuel is striking, if not surprising.” Anderson, a Democrat, conducts the Fox News Poll with his colleague Daron Shaw, a Republican. They surveyed 1,002 randomly selected registered voters.
In July prices rose at a rate of 5.4 percent per year, according to the Consumer Price Index at the Department of Labor. That’s the highest rate for any month since July 2008. Will this current bout of inflation stay for the long term? That remains to be seen. After the end of the Great Recession, prices took about six months to stabilize.
