Fox News’ Tucker Carlson did the unthinkable.
During his Monday night program, he came to the defense of beleaguered CNN star Chris Cuomo — who is under criticism for giving his disgraced brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, advice as he battled sexual misconduct allegations.
Carlson, well-known for attacking CNN and its personalities, said Cuomo was right to advise his brother.
“… Loyalty should be to your family above all else.”
“It’s his brother,” the Fox star exclaimed. “Not joking at all. Maybe even above your job. Maybe even above Jeff Zucker. If your brother calls and says, ‘I need help,’ if you don’t give him help because you’re pretending to be an anchor on some stupid cable channel that nobody watches, you’re betraying your brother.”
“And that’s a greater sin than any of the dumb politics they espouse on that channel. Totally true. So we’re not going to criticize him for that.”
The Fox News star made sure to still get his digs in on CNN, but ultimately said the younger Cuomo deserves no blame for his older brother’s wrongdoings.
You are “not responsible for the misbehavior of your relatives,” Carlson explained. “Sorry. You didn’t choose them. You’re not responsible for anybody else’s misbehavior. Only your own.”
Cuomo was rumored to have been advising his brother over an escalating sexual harassment scandal for months, while also trying to present himself as an unbiased journalist.
He apologized to critics after being caught and has been on a vacation for the past week.
But Carlson shocked viewers with a strong defense of his media rival.
