5 biggest lies of the Democratic National Convention

“On the Holmes Front,” with Frank Holmes

The 2020 Democratic National Convention has come to an end, but not before its speakers used a multitude of mistruths, deceptions, and outright errors to endorse Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Here are the five biggest lies from this week’s DNC:

  1. Michelle Obama lied about the number of jobs Obama-Biden created.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama gave one of the most popular speeches of the 2020 Democratic convention on Monday night—but it doesn’t deserve any praise for its factual content.

Not only did she misstate the number of deaths from the coronavirus, but she claimed that “when my husband left office with Joe Biden at his side, we had a record-breaking stretch of job creation.”

But Mrs. Obama’s math is off—way off.

President Barack Obama increased the number of jobs by 6.2% over eight years, which actually ranks ninth—behind Franklin D. Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and Dwight D. Eisenhower.

To say that another way, Obama “with Joe Biden at his side,” was the fourth-worst president for job growth in the last 50 years.

  1. A vote for Democrats is a “vote for law enforcement”?

Failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told voters during her speech Wednesday night to back Joe Biden and “vote for law enforcement.”

A woman who has yet to be jailed for her own felonies said that the best party for law-and-order is the one chanting, “Defund the police.” If Hillary Clinton’s speech were a meal, the house wine would be sour grapes served by gaslight.

Joe Biden has said he would “defund the police” by shifting federal funds away from police toward social welfare programs. But the Democratic base demands much more from the Biden-Harris administration.

During a meeting of the Democrats’ LGBTQ caucus, a transgender person named J Mai—who identifies a “Black-Vietnamese, transgender nonbinary/gender transcendent mermaid Queen-King”—said it’s time to “imagine a world without the cops.”

Mai said the party wants “real abolition, not just watered-down DNC version of abolition. We’re talking about abolishing the police, we’re talking about abolishing ICE, we’re talking about abolishing prisons.”

President Biden would “gut every single police department in America,” President Donald Trump warned the New York City Police Benevolent Association, which endorsed him at his New Jersey golf club.

Trump has been endorsed by police unions in New Jersey and the swing states of Florida,  Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona, as well as by the National Association of Police Organizations—which backed Obama-Biden twice.

Ironically, Mrs. Clinton’s alleged support for law enforcement came immediately after she told Democrats to “vote for DREAMers and their families,” who want to skirt deportation after breaking immigration law.

  1. The illegal immigrant the DNC featured was deported by Clinton and Obama

To gin up support for amnesty, the DNC featured the story of Alejandra Juarez, an illegal alien they claimed had been deported by President Donald Trump.

But Juarez had been deported by President Bill Clinton 22 years ago, then ordered deported by Presidet Obama.

She illegally entered the United States on May 21, 1998, and lied to immigration officials that she was already a U.S. citizen. She was immediately deported. Two days later, the same scenario unfolded. A few days later, she managed to cross the border and settle down.

But in 2013, Juarez got flagged for deportation, probably by the DHS’s Secure Communities program overseen by then-Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. The Obama administration ordered her out of the country.

Twice, Democratic Congressman Darren Soto of Florida submitted a bill to spare Juarez deportation—and not a single of his fellow Democrats supported him.

Trump finally deported her in 2018.

“You can blame the Trump administration all you want. The problem is the Obama administration decided to reinstate the prior order,” said Andrew R. “Art” Arthur of the Center for Immigration Studies.

“It wasn’t Trump that went out and found this woman. It was Biden,” he said.

  1. COVID-19 is the “European virus.”

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo seemed confused about where the coronavirus came from during his speech on Monday night.

“The European virus infected the Northeast while the White House was still fixated on China,” the governor said.

Every competent health authority in the world believes COVID-109 originated in Wuhan, China—but the Democratic Party has accused Trump of being “racist” for pointing this out.

They may have another motive to muddy the waters about the virus’s origins: As The Horn News has reported, the Obama administration gave the Wuhan Institute of Virology grants in the amount of $7.1 million to research the coronavirus in bats.

Obama did not address the grant during his speech on Wednesday night.

  1. Absentee voting and mail-in voting are the same.

Speakers throughout the convention claimed that Trump is “sabotaging the post office,” and that there’s nothing to fear from nationwide mail-in ballots. Some even called him a hypocrite because, as president of the United States, he can’t stand in line at a Washington, D.C., polling place, and must cast an absentee ballot.

“Let’s be clear: There is absolutely zero difference between voting by mail and voting absentee,” said Jocelyn Benson, Michigan Secretary of State.

But experts point out there’s a world of difference between absentee voting, which have been legal on a limited basis for decades, and mailing a ballot to every registered voter on the rolls.

Voters have to request an absentee ballot—and at least 36 states check the information against voter records before sending the ballot.

“With all-mail [voting], they just send out a ballot and without certainty it’s going to a live voter,” said Hans von Spakovsky, a voting rights expert at the Heritage Foundation.

Nationwide, 244 counties have more registered voters than they have live adults, according to the Public Interest Legal Foundation.

Meanwhile, 28.3 million mail-in ballots are missing.

Undercover videos show ballot harvesters “helping” elderly nursing home patients fill out their ballots, telling them which circles to fill in.

A 2005 report from the Commission on Federal Election Reform—chaired by former President Jimmy Carter—said that absentee ballots “remain the largest source of potential voter fraud” in the United States.

These are just five examples, but they prove that the Democratic Party lied about major issues like voter fraud, its record on jobs, and open borders. Thoughtful voters should wonder what else it’s shading the truth about.
