President Barack Obama, along with first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha, took Air Force One to travel to their annual two-week holiday getaway to Hawaii — and the bill they passed on to taxpayers for their fun in the sun has some critics furious.
According to political watchdog group Judicial Watch — which obtained records from the Department of the Air Force — the Obama family 2015 Christmas vacation to paradise was billed to taxpayers at $3,590,313.
And that’s just in flight expenses alone.
The watchdog group’s press release noted that Obama used both Air Force One and a Boeing C-32A, “a specially configured upscale version of the Boeing 757”
The U.S. Air Force lists the C-32A as decked out in luxuries like, “a fully-enclosed stateroom for the use of the primary passenger,” as well as, “a changing area, private lavatory, separate entertainment system, two first-class swivel seats and a convertible divan that seats three and folds out to a bed.”
The president usually spends his vacation time in Hawaii frequenting the island’s golf courses, dining out, hiking, going to the beach and treating himself and his kids to shaved ice, a frozen dessert that looks like a snow cone.
This is far from the only travel expense the Obama administration has demanded taxpayers pay for. In fact, since taking office in 2009, the known travel expenses for Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have exceeded $78 million.
“The American people have every right to be appalled that Barack Obama wastes their precious tax dollars on an endless stream of golf vacations, political fundraisers, and exorbitant vacations,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in the group’s press release. “The Obama travel issue is about abuse of office, abuse of the taxpayer, and contempt for the rule of law.”
This is a travesty to all other federal, state and local public servants. When these people travel on official business they are held to stringent travel restrictions which include a budgeted amount for food and lodging, if they go over the allotted amount, it comes out of their personal pocket. Then if it is not paid with in a narrow time frame, the overages begin to be docket from their salary.
This is clearly an abuse of the public trust, of which he swore to uphold when taking office.

You aren’t taking into account the massive logistic expenses that travel by the president involves. He’ s the President of the United States, he can’t stroll down to the airport and hop on a commercial airliner for gods sake. Any trip by the President entails a forward team for planning and security, logistic support for transportation ( airforce one and ground transportation, they have to transport the presidential limos and secret service vehicles) a support maintenance crew for all of this and all of this costs money. His flight is accompanied by a a number of fighter jets for protection and they also need a in air refueling aircraft at some point in the flight. This all costs a huge amount of money but what’s the alternative? He’s the President, all of these expenses go part and parcel with the office and there is no getting around them, do you think he’s not entitled to take vacations? Really, congress takes a lot more time off than he does and no one grips about that ( they all have huge expense accounts and secret service protection 24/7 as well). Don’ t put to much stock in these stories, it’s mostly the media trying to inflame people.
Scott, you have a point. It does cost significantly more for the president to vacation for the reasons you mentioned. But knowing how much these lavish vacations cost & knowing that our country is in a financial downward spiral, would it not make sense to limit your vacations to 1 per year? How many vacations does the average citizen take a year? I’m guessing no where near half a dozen.
Also remember or realize that a lot of those costs are static, all of the support team, the support aircraft and personnel would be paid no matter what they are doing during that time frame, they’re fixed costs but when they are assigned to a mission, those costs are allocated to the cost of the mission. Those costs would not disappear if he was not using them. Yeah, the lodging and operational costs of transportation would not occur but those Jets would probably be in the air on training or other operations if not assigned to his trip. I don’t agree with a lot of his presidency, at the time he was the choice of the people and as such he ( as the holder of the office) deserves the respect of such. We as a nation do not reflect well upon ourselves to say such disrespectful things about POTUS. It’s a tough job, for which he is paid a fraction of what a CEO any successful company makes and most of which we have no knowledge of and no background to second guess his decisions. What kind of rational thinking would spend billions to invent a weapon and then tell the world that under no circumstance would we ever use it, even if attacked? There has been harsh and rabid criticism of Trump for saying if abortion were against the law some kind of punishment would be appropriate for those who broke the law. What kind of sense does it make to create a law and advocate no punishment for breaking that law?
It is this kind of irrational political correct insanity which has been dominating the leadership of our nation for years which gave us Obama and will continue it with Hilary. D’OweBama needs to be arrested, tried, and convicted of either Fraud(for going under several names other than Barry Soetoro), Perjury(for lying under his Oath of Office, where he not only did NOT “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic,: but worked hard to subvert, invalidate, & end-around that document, not to mention adding to Section 2’s delegated powers unlawfully) or Treason(for giving “aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States” – e.g. ISIS/ISIL and the Muslim Brotherhood).
Upon conviction(a slam-dunk), he should be jailed for not more than ten years, be required to repay every penny collected from the date of his first betrayal of the Public Trust(starting with Jan ’09 and “I, Barack Hussein Obama”), both in salary AND benefits, and forever forbidden any employment on the public dime for the rest of his life. Or executed, though i’d prefer that he’d first have to repay the USG, perhaps with checks sent to those he caused to be unemployed…
But then, i feel that ALL Oath-breakers should face this penalty.
Oh, and he should NOT be impeached; only a LAWFUL president can be impeached, and he never met the “natural born” criteria of Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5. He’s always been an UNlawful president, an UNconstitutional pretender holding an office ILLEGALLY…which would make every “law” his signed, every EO he wrote, and every binding action he took on behalf of the United States to be null and void from their inception…sortof like someone who gets away with pretending to be a judge for 8 years and convicting a whole bunch of people.

We may, unfortunately, go from bad to worse with our next president. It’s too bad we have such terrible choices for presidential candidates. I fear what’s happening to our beautiful country. However, I recently spoke to a woman from Ukraine, and she said we have NO IDEA how fortunate we are to be living here. (She’s 75 and has seen it all.) We should count our blessings, and remember not to vote the wrong people into office.

Unless you are an employee of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government, D’OweBama is NOT “your” president. First, he’s holding the office illegally, because he doesn’t meet the “natural born” requirement, but let’s set that aside for the moment.
The President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces(Executive Branch) and every Alphabet agency out there. That’s IT. He’s not the president of Congress(Legislative Branch), he’s not the president of SCOTUS(Judicial Branch), he’s not the president of any State, County, Parish, city, town, or hamlet…or any of the people who abide in any of those places UNLESS they’re directly employed by the Executive Branch of the Federal government.
But you may simply have been ignorant of these facts; POTUS is “THE” president, but certainly not “MY” president; i stopped working for the feds a long, long, long time ago. Neither is he president of anyone not working for JUST the Executive Branch of JUST the Federal government, either…and even then, only conditionally; if any sworn public employee of the Executive Branch(and they’re ALL sworn) detects that D’OweBama or any OTHER president has exceeded the bounds of his lawful authority as spelled out in Article 2 of the Constitution, they not only MAY disobey, but are lawfully REQUIRED to do so, for the Constitution, not the President, is the Supreme Law of the Land…and if/when the President disobeys his oath of office, he’s a felony oathbreaker, and none of his orders need be obeyed. President George W Bush averaged flying to his ranch in the State of his birth, Texas, every 45 days during his 8 years in office at a cost of $2 million per trip……$16 million per year. However, I never saw nor heard a word of complaint from any of you whiners about “W’s” excessive spending. It’s apparent that logic and fairness are not qualities possessed by the “HATE OBAMA” crowd!
