Talk about a ruff Memorial Day weekend.
A dog left in a parked truck at a Nebraska gas station accidentally shot his owner’s shotgun Saturday, sending pellets flying across the parking lot and hitting a woman sitting at a nearby traffic light.
The bizarre shooting happened outside a convenience store in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
The truck’s owner had stepped inside the store, leaving the inpatient dog waiting in the back seat. A second passenger had exited the vehicle but remained outside.
While alone in the truck, the dog moved around the rear seat and pawed the trigger of a stored but loaded shotgun.
The blast punched through the truck’s front passenger-side door, crossed the parking lot, and a pellet hit a woman stopped at a light a short distance away, who was resting her arm out of her open window.
Her injuries were not life-threatening, and no other injuries were reported. A family member transported her to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.
No charges have been announced.
