Secretary of State Marco Rubio walked into the White House briefing room Tuesday and delivered a powerful vision of America’s future that quickly went viral.
He then followed it up with rap lyrics quote on Iran that was perfect.
Rubio’s star is rising in Washington, D.C. and previous whispers of him as the Republican 2028 presidential frontrunner has become clear.
Filling in for Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is on maternity leave, the Secretary of State and acting National Security Advisor turned what could have been a routine Iran war briefing into a viral moment that has Washington buzzing.
CBN News correspondent Kelly Wright asked Rubio what his hope for America was in a time of war and global uncertainty. Rubio didn’t reach for talking points and, unlike former President Barack Obama, he didn’t need a teleprompter script.
“My hope for America is what it’s always been. I think it’s the hope I hope we all share. We want it to continue to be the place where anyone from anywhere can achieve anything, where you’re not limited by the circumstances of your birth, by the color of your skin, by your ethnicity,” Rubio said. “It’s a place where you are able to overcome challenges and achieve your full potential,” Rubio said.
“We’re not perfect. Our history is not one of perfection, but it’s still better than anybody else’s history. And ours is a story of perpetual improvement,” he continued.
“Each generation has left the next generation of Americans freer, more prosperous, safer, and that is our goal as well.”
Trump’s White House posted the clip from its official account.

Then came Rubio’s mic drop rap lyric moment.
Addressing Iran’s fractured leadership and its ongoing stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz, Rubio sized up Tehran’s remaining Islamic despots.
“They should check themselves before they wreck themselves in the direction that they’re going,” Rubio quipped, quoting the 1992 Ice Cub rap lyric.
“The time has come for Iran to make a sensible choice, and it’s not easy for them to do that, obviously, because they have a fracture in their own leadership system. And apart from that, I mean, the top people in that government are… to say the least, they’re insane in the brain. So we need to address that,” Rubio said, lifting the line straight from Cypress Hill’s 1993 hip hop hit.

But it wasn’t all fun and games. Rubio blasted Iran’s naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as criminal piracy, and announced that seven Iranian fast boats had been sunk and the U.S. is not backing down.
“Seven of them now sit at the bottom of the sea, along with, by the way, the rest of Iran’s navy,” Rubio said. “That’s where you can find their navy today.”
He later painted a chilling picture of what a nuclear-armed Iran would mean for the world.
“If Iran had a nuclear weapon and they decided to close the straits and make our gas prices like $9 a gallon or $8 a gallon, we wouldn’t be able to do anything about it, because they have a nuclear weapon,” Rubio said. “A nuclear-armed Iran could do whatever the hell they want with the straits and there’s nothing anyone would be able to do about it.”
When the final question of the day came and a reporter asked what DJ name he goes by after going viral for spinning tracks at a family wedding in Florida over the weekend, Rubio kept his cool.
“You’re not ready for my DJ name,” he said.
