A U.S. Postal Service worker has been removed from her position after allegedly dumping hundreds of pieces of election material in a dumpster.
Security footage shows an unidentified woman in USPS uniform removing bins from a Toyota Prius and disposing of them at a Shop-Rite dumpster in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania. The materials were Republican mailers supporting Rep. Tom Kean Jr., R-N.J., intended for voters in western Morris County according to postal officials.
“We saw her dump it,” a security worker told the New Jersey Globe. Security footage captured the vehicle’s Pennsylvania license plate, with one guard noting, “She has a Pennsylvania plate, but it looks like the mail’s from Jersey.”
The incident comes as Kean faces a tight race against Democrat Sue Altman in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.
A recent Monmouth University poll shows Kean leading by just two points, within the 4.7% margin of error.
“I believe in the security of our elections and voting by mail, but this incident is deeply troubling,” Kean said Monday. “I hope the USPS acts swiftly to resolve whatever crimes have been committed.”
USPS spokesman Xavier Hernandez confirmed the agency is “aware of the allegation of mishandled political mail” and has referred the matter to the Postal Inspection Service and Office of Inspector General.
According to New Jersey Globe editor David Wildstein, the worker has been removed from her position in Succasunna, NJ.

The mailers were sent by an independent committee affiliated with the national Republican Party. Morris County is considered a Republican stronghold in the otherwise Democrat-controlled state.
