On Sunday, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., went on CNN to perform damage control after President Joe Biden’s abysmal debate.
At the debate, the 81-year-old president could barely even be heard due to his mumbling and was often confused. He stirred Americans’ concerns about his advanced age and his senior moments.
Not to worry, Biden has earned a defender: Nancy Pelosi, an 84-year-old career politician with concerns of her own — and she short circuited trying to back Biden.
“I, uh — While he may be saying we’re enablers, we see Joe Biden up close. We know how attuned he are [sic] to the issues, how informed he is. And I debate with him about legislation and — not debate, but discuss it with him. He’s right there,” Pelosi told CNN’s Dana Bash.
“So, in any case, it was a bad night. Let’s not sugarcoat that. It was a bad night; it was a great presidency.”
Pelosi tried to convince everyone “how attuned he are.” Perhaps the Biden campaign could have found someone that’s not 20 years past retirement age?
Pelosi went on to deny rumors of top Democrats privately urging Biden to withdraw from the race.
“My people are very much, ‘Biden! Kamala Harris!’ And let’s — this is an opportunity for Joe Biden to go out there and show he has the stamina and the rest,” Pelosi said.
“And by the way, while the press — and for some reason they don’t — there are, uh, health care professionals who think that, uh, Trump has dementia, that his connection, his thoughts do not go together.”
Pelosi tried to sock-puppet some “uh, health care professionals.” Citation needed!
Plus, Pelosi tried to spin a P.R. crisis by calling it a P.R. “opportunity,” as if Biden’s campaign is dealing with image issues instead of substance issues.

The Democrats have come under fire for years for their record of allowing aging leaders to cling desperately to power. Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg both imperiled the Democrats’ agenda by dying in office.
Pelosi, for her part, resigned as House Democrat leader after the 2022 elections. New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, 53, won the job after her departure.
However, Pelosi has remained in Congress as a rank-and-file representative. She’s even running for re-election… at the age of 84.
