The fallout from MSNBC’s firing of one of the network’s top stars, Joy Reid, continues.
And conservative star Megyn Kelly is taking the network to task, now saying the move doesn’t go far enough.
In fact, Kelly is now convinced that MSNBC execs are too scared to do anything about their top star, who recently went on air to verbally slam her own network for Reid’s firing.
Earlier this week, Kelly, practically danced on the grave of Reid’s firing. Calling it long overdue and saying it was a good move for the network.
“I’m thrilled she’s gone. She literally was the most racist person on television,” Kelly said about Reid, who is black. “But we won’t have her to kick around anymore, there’s a little sadness in that.”
“Good riddance to the absolute worst person on television, and shame on NBC for letting it go on this long,” she added in a social media post.
You can watch Kelly’s proverbial celebration here:
But in the wake of Reid’s firing, Maddow — whose show airs at 9 p.m. — spent part of her monologue not only praising Reid but also calling it a “bad mistake” for MSNBC to cut her.
Maddow said that the cuts primarily affected “non-white hosts in primetime.”
Following the announcement of Reid’s canceled show, MSNBC implemented another wave of cuts, letting go of shows hosted by left-wing anchors Katie Phang and Jonathan Capehart.
However, Kelly pointed out the Maddow’s blatent insubordination should be addressed, and that network execs don’t have the stomach to do anything to her.
“She really is one of the most annoying people on television,” Kelly said after playing Maddow’s monologue.
“She oozes sanctimony and self-righteousness. Here’s the real capper. She took her boss’s faces and rubbed them in shit last night,” Kelly said.
“That’s what she did. The guy who oversees, she’s got two bosses now, right?” Kelly asked.
Kelly went on to name Maddow’s producer Rebecca Kutler and prospective Chief Executive Officer of SpinCo Mark Lazarus, who oversees the two, asking why they hadn’t fired Maddow over her rant.
“Well, Rebecca and Mark, do you have any spines whatsoever? Are you actually going to let an employee, that’s what she is, Rachel Maddow, talk about you, your company and your decision making this way?” Kelly asked. “Mr. Lazarus, do you have any testosterone? Do you have any testicular fortitude to stand up for yourself as a professional and executive, never mind a man, and tell this woman, ‘You’re fired too.’”
“‘You’re fired for insubordination and for disparaging the network publicly. In front of our four viewers, we’re very upset about what they must now think.’ Why don’t you? If one of my employees ever did this to me, let’s say, we started MK Network and we have MK employees who go from being my producers to going out there and offering commentary,” Kelly said.
