Ask just about any combat veteran that has been in the thick of things, and they’ll tell you: The A-10 Thunderbolt, also known as the “Warthog”, is a hands-down favorite of ground troops.
The video below gives a glimpse into what it’s like for the brave men and women providing close, gritty air support to our troops when they need it most.
Mike says
I think the Air Force would exceedingly wise to bring the A-10 back into production. Nothing they have produced since comes even close.
Don P.Simons says
You can thank John Boyd and Vice President Chaney for not only the A-10 but also the F-15 and good Sherman tanks with safer fuel tanks and armenent. I have the book, “Boyd” and have read it twice. He also stopped the crashes of F-100s on final approach with a different handling of the ailerons which I learned in 1944.
Dick Chaney was a very capable man – still is, in collaboration with his daughter.
