As a condition for raising the debt limit, Congress is debating whether to add work requirements to SNAP, the official name for the food-stamp program.
Sen. John Fetterman, D-Penn., had something to say about it… or, at least, the liberal media had some words to put in Fetterman’s mouth.

Fetterman said in a statement Monday, “Cut SNAP for families and kids while pushing tax cuts for billionaires? Not on my watch.”
The senator tried to make a similar point during Tuesday’s hearing about Silicon Valley Bank… but still struggling to recover from his near-fatal stroke last year, Fetterman’s speech was mangled and unintelligible.
“The Republicans want to give a work requirement for SNAP, for… uh, a hungry family has to have these… this kind of penalties, or these some kinds of working requirements, shouldn’t you have a working requirement after we say, ‘Oh! Your bank, with billions of your bank?’” Fetterman said.
“Because they seem to be more preoccupied when, then, SNAP and requirements for works, for hungry people but not about protecting the tax papers, you know, that will bail no matter whatever does about a bank to crash it.”
Critics were appalled and questioned whether Fetterman was healthy enough to be in office… or was being used by Democratic Party leaders.
The mainstream media tried to come to the rescue. A reporter for The Washington Post was criticized for changing Fetterman’s quote to make it more intelligible.
The reporter, Jeff Stein, later apologized for editing Fetterman’s remarks for clarity while covering the Senate’s hearing.

“Yesterday I tweeted this quote, provided to me by the Senator’s office, without checking it against the video,” Stein tweeted. “That was my fault. Though it captured his meaning, I deleted the tweet since some of the words in the quote were inaccurate.”

Some of Fetterman’s colleagues have repeatedly questioned his mental well-being. Last month, Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., compared Fetterman to Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the California Democrat currently facing calls to resign.

Fetterman returned to the Senate last month after inpatient treatment for post-stroke depression.
By the time of his return, he’s missed more than half his Senate tenure due to health issues.
How could anyone take the calls for @SenFeinstein to step down seriously when the DEMs spend more than a year excusing the deteriorating health of @JohnFetterman?
