“CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King just caused an uproar amongst liberal fans over a seemingly lighthearted social media post.
King posted a friendly selfie alongside Fox News star Jesse Watters as the two TV personalities happened to be on the same cross-country flight yesterday.
King photographed herself smiling beside Watters on a plane, joking that the two “TV people from competing networks” were seated together on a four-hour flight.
“Speaking for @jessewatters here: A good time was had by all! Hi, Jesse … saving your number!” King wrote on her Instagram account.

However, King’s post immediately caused an uproar amongst progressive and liberal fans of hers — saying that even uttering a word to her supposed “rival” is off limits.
Below is a snippet of the hate King received from her selfie with Waters.
“Gayle this is NOT IT,” one Bluesky user commented.
Rapper Talib Kweli added, “Nah Gayle this ain’t it.”
Another account said: “All nazi Jesse does is … LIE!”
“Oprah’s tone-deaf bestie not reading the room,” wrote one commenter.
“EWWW,” said another.
Another user declared, “No principles. Not that I ever expected anything else of her.”
CBS has been under a renewed microscope after the network hired CBS News chief Bari Weiss, who has indicated big plans to overhaul the network’s news operation — including speculation that King may be on the outs.
Users quickly pounced that the photo-op was nothing but a ploy to impress her new boss.
“Trying to impress Bari Weiss,” one user said on Bluesky.
According to multiple reports, King’s future at the network has been the subject of speculation since Weiss’s arrival.
According to a New York Post report, Weiss — the former Free Press founder brought in by Paramount Skydance — has been trying to steer CBS News as staffers fear layoffs and shake-ups that possibly involve King and fellow anchor Norah O’Donnell.
Insiders told The Post that King’s lucrative $13 million-to-$15 million annual contract is set to expire in May and that her standing at the “penny-pinching” network is “murky.”
According to the same report, some CBS staffers believe Weiss could reshuffle the morning and evening lineups, possibly moving O’Donnell back to “CBS Mornings”, leaving King out of a job.
To add more drama to yesterday’s in-flight interaction, social media users also revived memories of a 2019 clash, when Watters confused King with “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts.
Watters later apologized on air, holding up a sign that read, “I’m sorry Gayle + Robin.”
Neither Fox or CBS commented on King’s post at the time of publication.
