President Donald Trump has a knack for nicknames — but it was body language he used on Friday to destroy one of his biggest rivals heading towards the 2020 election.
When asked about Beto O’Rourke’s entry into the crowded Democratic presidential field, Trump mocked the Texan’s strange hand movements.
“Well, I think he has a lot of hand movement. Is he crazy or is that just the way he acts? I’ve never seen hand movement,” Trump said.
“I watched him a little while this morning, doing, I assume some kind of a news conference,” the president continued. “I’ve actually never seen anything quite like it. Study it, I’m sure you’ll agree.”
Trump was then asked if he was nervous about any of the top Democratic candidates in the field so far.
“I just say, whomever it is — I’ll take them on. Okay? Him or her, whomever it is, I’ll take him or her on,” Trump said.
“With the economy doing so well … with the tax cuts being the biggest in the history of our country,” he continued. “With people having a lot more money in their pocket and their 401k hitting record highs” and the record high stock market, Trump said he’d be tough to beat.
“Whomever it is, it makes no difference to me whatsoever,” Trump said.
