Footage from the stunning antisemitic, pro-Palestine protests that have swept across Columbia University emerged on social media — and what they show is disturbing.
A growing number have called on the university and its president, Nemat “Minouche” Shafik, to ensure the safety of Jewish students following reports of attacks and calls for violence.
A campus rabbi advised Jewish students to return home for their own safety over the weekend. In response to the mounting concerns, Columbia University announced early Monday that classes would be held virtually and that school leaders would convene to discuss ways to resolve “this crisis.”
Video shows Jewish students being subjected to attacks and hate speech, including being told to “go back to Poland” and being told “We are all Hamas” and chants celebrating the death of Jews.

Jewish students get harassed trying to leave @Columbia’s campus tonight. You can hear someone yell “Yehudim Yehudim”- “Jews Jews.” They curse and yell “go back to Poland.” Antisemitism has become the new normal here. pic.twitter.com/U2Ii5GTuLm

This is why I call these pro-Hamas organizations the modern version of the Hitler Youth.
They just repeat and chant the hate they're told to. pic.twitter.com/hSx91jW7RZ

A typical pro-Hamas @Columbia University student (look at the emblem on the phone). Yes, calling them Hamasniks is not an exaggeration.
They are not “pro-Palestinian.” They could not care less about the people in Gaza. They just want to riot and blame the Jews. pic.twitter.com/sCc0nXk7N5

Far-left protesters have criticized Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip, done as part of their efforts to save hostages taken by Hamas during their unprovoked attack on Israel on Oct. 7, which resulted in the massacre of 1,200 innocent civilians.
Amid the turmoil, Rabbi Elie Buechler of the Columbia/Barnard Hillel and Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life recommended that Jewish students return home, citing concerns that the university and city police cannot guarantee their safety.
The Columbia Jewish Alumni Association echoed these concerns in a letter to the university president, urging her to enforce rules regarding harassment, and to restore order and safety on campus.
The situation has also drawn the attention of notable alumni, such as New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who has withdrawn his support for the university until action is taken.
