Establishment lawmakers in Congress have passed a bloated COVID-19 stimulus package which will supply the average American with $600 “Trump Checks” — and send hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars overseas.
And Sen. Rand Paul, R-K.Y., isn’t happy.

In a viral video, Paul slammed the $900 billion relief bill on the Senate floor.
A “spending monstrosity,” he called it, noting that the government would be complicit in giving away free money. And he tore into fellow Republicans, for agreeing to it. He called them no better than the lawmakers across the aisle, and the bill is “everything Republicans don’t believe in.”
“To so-called conservatives who are quick to identify the socialism of Democrats,” Paul said. “If you vote for this spending monstrosity, you are no better.”
“When you vote to pass out free money, you lose your soul and you abandon forever any semblance of moral or fiscal integrity.”
Paul — a libertarian well-known for bucking the party majority — instead called for the economy to reopen.

“Why stop at $600 a person?” he asked rhetorically. “Why not $1,000? Why not $2,000? Maybe these new Free-Money Republicans should join the Everybody-Gets-A-Guaranteed-Income Caucus? Why not $20,000 a year for everybody, why not $30,000? If we can print out money with impunity, why not do it?”
You can watch the speech below:
???? @RandPaul just went SCORCHED EARTH from the Senate floor over the COVID-19 stimulus that will give Americans $600 checks after 8 months of nothing.

Only a handful of other Republicans joined Paul in condemning the bill:
These are the only senators who voted no on this terrible stimulus bill.
Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee
Rand Paul of Kentucky
Rick Scott of Florida
Ron Johnson of Wisconsin
Mike Lee of Utah
Ted Cruz of Texas.— Art TakingBack ???????? (@ArtValley818_) December 22, 2020
And Paul actually found himself agreeing with an unlikely member of Congress across the aisle –– Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. They both noted that lawmakers, who have been racing fast against the clock to get a deal done before the congressional recess, hadn’t even had a chance to read the bill entirely.
Lawmakers apparently only had six hours to read and decide on the 5000-page bill.

“This is why Congress needs time to actually read this package before voting on it,” AOC wrote on Twitter. “Members of Congress have not read this bill. It’s over 5000 pages, arrived at 2pm today, and we are told to expect a vote on it in 2 hours. This isn’t governance. It’s hostage-taking.”
And she also argued that it’s not only important for Congress to have time to make an informed decision, but for the public to do the same.
“The PUBLIC needs to see these bills w enough time to contact their rep to let them know how they feel,” she wrote.
So what do you think?
Is this stimulus bill awful?
Is Rand Paul right about the stimulus bill?
