Former congressman Beto O’ Rourke likely woke up with a terrible headache Thursday morning — because he was pounded at Wednesday night’s Democratic presidential debates.
Hot got punished by his fellow Democrats.
And many pundits agree he was the biggest loser of the debate. And it wasn’t even close.
His Texas-sized collapse started when MSNBC hosts brought up the topic of illegal immigration.
O’Rourke began to respond to the question, outlining his so-called reform when he was cut short by fellow Democrat Julián Castro, who came straight for O’Rourke’s jugular.
He was visibly shaken up by the confrontation —
Critics were ruthless.
“Beto is not a good debater,” said Victoria Defrancesco, a University of Texas professor appearing on the MSNBC round table after the show was over.
“We saw that with Ted Cruz and we saw it again last night. Somethings going to have to change for the next debate or he’s not going to last much longer,” she said.
“Tough night for Beto,” said Democratic strategist Fernand Amandi.
MSNBC contributor Charlie Sykes, who noted that President Donald Trump was the winner though he didn’t participate, said: “loser, no question about it, Beto, who I think is toast.”
“O’Rourke definitely the loser last night,” said NBC News reporter Jonathan Allen.
And even fake news CNN, who was once in love with O’Rourke, distanced itself from the Texan.
Longtime contributor Van Jones was harsh in his criticism of O’Rourke.
“I think that may have been Beto’s last hurrah,” Jones said. “I think he’s done. He got his butt kicked… hard!”
Not only did he get his butt kicked, but he utterly embarrassed himself after trying his hand at Spanish to pander to Latino voters… which in turn led fellow Democrat Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. to give O’Rourke the stink eye, all caught on live television.
