Update: Infamous “Quality Learing Center” just got another $215k check

The infamous Quality “Learing” Center, the Minneapolis daycare at the heart of the Somali community daycare fraud scandal, was given $4 million in taxpayer funds, then raided by the FBI, was photographed completely abandoned… and then reportedly received another $215,000 in taxpayer cash anyway.

Now a senator wants to know where every dollar went.

The daycare in Minneapolis became the face of Minnesota’s billion-dollar fraud scandal in December 2025, when conservative YouTuber Nick Shirley walked up to the facility and found it empty.

The misspelled sign outside, “Quality Learing Center,” was the obvious clue something was deeply wrong. State records showed the facility had collected $1.9 million in 2025 alone and $4 million total.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, a Republican, is furious and is demanding answers from Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

“4 million dollars of hard-earned tax dollars going to an education center that can’t even spell learning correctly,” Emmer wrote on X. “Care to explain this one, Tim Walz?”

In late April, federal agents raided the facility as part of a sweeping 22-business raid across the Twin Cities in the largest single day of federal fraud enforcement in Minnesota. But the center had officially closed its license on January 6, 2026, just days after Shirley’s video went viral.

Then, according to The New York Post, came the $215,000 check.

Federal records reviewed by The Post show the Quality Learning Center received a $215,000 payment after the FBI raid. The payout had Sen. Joni Erns, R-I.A., demanding for receipts for the money and for someone to explain how a raided, closed, abandoned fraud suspect continued drawing federal checks.

“The crooks behind the ‘Learing Center’ didn’t stop there,” Ernst wrote in a letter demanding an investigation by the Small Business Administration’s Inspector General.

“They also took advantage of hardworking Americans through COVID-era U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) programs and raked in nearly a quarter of a million dollars.”

Tim Walz, who quit his reelection campaign for governor after the scandal consumed his administration, claimed the day of the FBI raids that Minnesota’s own agencies had caught the fraud and reported it.

“If you commit fraud in Minnesota you’re going to get caught — and that’s exactly what we saw today,” Walz said.

No word on if Walz’ name was on the $215,000 check the center just cashed.
