Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, better known for his disrespect to the National Anthem than his football skills, will reportedly stand for the flag… now that he’s unemployed.
Once his checks stop rolling in, suddenly Kaepernick is a patriot?
How convenient.
Kaepernick announced Wednesday that he would be backing out of his 49ers contract to become a free agent. ESPN reported less then 24-hours later that he told his agent would now stand respectfully for the National Anthem.
Without the promise of a mult-million dollar payday, Kaepernick’s principals suddenly aren’t that important anymore?
Even without the inappropriate act of bringing politics into the sport, Kaepernick would have a difficult time as a free agent due to his poor performance and inconsistency in recent seasons.
Kaepernick claims he began kneeling last season to protest social injustices in our country.
It was a cause he once called, “bigger than football” — but it is clearly not more important than his bank account.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote, “Kaepernick no longer wants the past method of protest to detract from the positive change that he believes has been created.”
But he’s not fooling anyone.
Kaepernick just wants to keep his huge income, and this whole stunt has never been bigger than football.
It’s because fed-up fans aren’t going to pay him millions to disrespect America anymore.
