On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris gave an interview with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, and she didn’t exactly redeem herself.
Some critics, including two of the biggest stars at Fox News, mocked her “word salads.”
But some viewers pointed out that even the Fox News commentators missed a key part of the embarrassing interview.
“You know, every election cycle, we talk about, ‘This is the most election of our lifetimes.’ Lawrence, this one is. This one is,” Harris said.
“I’ve been fortunate and blessed to, during the course of being vice president, have many situations where it becomes clear that there are people — of every age and gender, by the way — who see something about being the first that lets them know that they don’t need to be, um, limited by other people’s limited, um, understanding of who can do what.”
Viewers weren’t inspired.
“The most hopeless election of her time,” one person said in a remark obtained by the U.S. Sun.
Two co-hosts of The Five didn’t even try to parse that sentence.
Greg Gutfeld joked, “My two theories: She’s drunk. Then, whatever Fetterman had, he regifted,” referring to the permanent brain damage suffered by Sen. John Fetterman, D-Penn., while on the campaign trail in 2021.
Dana Perino joined in.
“They had some late nights, having to do the holiday parties,” Perino replied. “I was with a friend the other night. She’s a Democrat. She voted for Biden-Harris, and she said, ‘What do you think is the problem for Harris?'”
Gutfeld interjected, “Switch to light beer. That was not sober. I’m not drink-shaming. I’m just trying to give her an out here because that made no sense.”
But the Fox News stars missed Harris’ conspiracy theory that Republicans were pushing “a national band” on abortion.
“On the one hand, you’re going to have folks who are standing — such as President Joe Biden and me — saying, ‘We trust women to be able to decide what is in their best interest, and women can trust us to protect their fundamental freedoms,” Harris claimed, without evidence.
“On the other hand, you’re going to have folks who want a national band [sic] and who have the gall to tell even women who are survivors of rape or incest that they don’t have the right to make decisions about what happens to their body.”
The GOP’s three front-running candidates do not want a national ban covering every stage of pregnancy. After August’s debate, presidential hopeful Nikki Haley even went viral for her call to “find consensus” among all Americans on the issue of abortion.
Harris announced earlier Tuesday that she’d soon tour the nation to campaign for pro-choice measures.
In other words, she’s taking the band on tour.
