Twitter exec cries at meeting after Musk buyout

Tesla CEO Elon Musk shook up social media by reportedly buying Twitter on Thursday… and some Twitter executives appeared shaken, themselves.

Twitter’s Legal Head Vijaya Gadde cried during a meeting while expressing uncertainty about the future look of Twitter, Politico reported Tuesday after speaking to three people familiar with the matter.

Gadde had reportedly called the virtual meeting with her subordinates in order to speculate about the day-to-day changes resulting from the new management.

Gadde teared up while expressing pride in Twitter’s legal and policy teams, Twitter spokesperson Trenton Kennedy told Politico.

Some insiders confirmed to Politico that Gadde was urging her subordinates to keep up their good work.

Apparently, the feeling that Musk will change the liberal slant at the company is widespread.

“I think everyone at Twitter, regardless of how they feel about the news, is feeling reflective and emotional,” one employee told the outlet. “We’ve gone through a lot in the past two years and I think it’s generally instigated a lot of reflection. I think this was more of an acknowledgment of the uncertainty everyone is feeling right now.”

Meanwhile, some Twitter insiders have stirred rumors about mass resignations. A former employee told Insider Tuesday, “Any sense that an exodus is building is correct.”

Gadde has worked for Twitter for more than a decade. As legal head, she has been described as the company’s “moral authority,” according to Politico. After all, she enforces Twitter’s policy’s banning certain speech.

She’s presided over Twitter’s decision to disallow all political ads… and the decision to ban former President Donald Trump.

She also helped to negotiate Musk’s buyout, one person told Politico.

Naturally, she’s become a polarizing figure among Twitter users.

Republicans have accused social media companies like Facebook and Twitter of anti-conservative bias that silences their viewpoints. Democrats claim the companies are censoring conspiracy theories that have, according to them, sometimes incited physical violence.

Since Musk’s takeover, some conservatives have seen their follower counts increase at a downright shocking rate — while liberal activist complain their numbers have shrunk.

Plus, Fox News host Tucker Carlson has resumed tweeting after an apparent suspension last month.

Take a look —

After being magically stuck at 3.9M Twitter followers for a few years, I’m now at 4M. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.
