Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson has been long celebrated for his witty rants and monologues about the latest in the world of politics.
But Wednesday morning he struck a different tone.
Instead of his nightly program, Tucker Carlson Tonight, he appeared on Mornings With Maria on Fox Business.
And he had a new bombshell waiting to drop in the ongoing saga between he and the National Security Agency.
According to his word, not only has he accused the NSA of spying on him, but he’s also now said that the intelligence agency has leaked his private emails to members of the media.
He began by explaining that during a funeral he attended in Washington, D.C. last week, someone he’s very familiar with repeated text from Carlson’s emails, and told him that the NSA has his emails and that they were planning to use it against him.
“I would never have said this in public if it was something I felt was wrong, or illegal, or immoral,” Carlson noted.
The Fox host goes on to explain that he felt compelled to speak publicly about the issue for one reason alone.
“As a defensive move I thought ‘I better say this out loud,’ because I’ve no way to defend myself.”
Mediaite noted that apart from fellow colleague Maria Bartiromo, all other Fox News hosts have strangely stayed relatively silent on the issue.
“Yesterday I learned, that — and this is going to come out soon — that NSA, leaked the contents of my e-mail to journalists in an effort to discredit me,” Carlson said. “I know this because I got a call from one… ”
“It’s confirmed, it’s true,” he continued. “They are not allowed to spy on American citizens — they are — and I think more ominously they are using information they gather to put leverage to threaten opposition journalists, people who criticize Biden administration happening to me right now… ”
But the Fox News primetime host insists the NSA has nothing on him.
And Carlson insists that the only person who knew about the specific email he mentioned was his show’s producer, Justin Wells.
Bartiromo then asked Carlson point blank: “Do you think that the NSA is doing this on their own or is it being directed by the Biden administration?”
“Well, they are part of the Biden administration,” he claimed, “though they seem to operate independently of any political control.
“I don’t know,” he ultimately said. “Here’s what I do know… the NSA routinely gives information on American citizens to the justice department — to the FBI — which it then uses in its intel division.”
“That’s illegal.”
