Cynical voters who doubted President Donald Trump would radically overhaul the government have found out how wrong they were.
In less than a month, President Trump has sealed the border, ended DEI, suspended most foreign aid, and exposed the boondoggles U.S. taxpayers have been financing for generations—and he’s just getting started.
The Trump administration just announced a major overhaul that might be coming to the most hated agency in the federal government.
Democrats love one government department more than any other, and it’s not the Department of Education or USAID. It’s the Internal Revenue Service.
Joe Biden loved it so much that in his so-called “Inflation Reductin Act,” he—or whoever ran his administration—tried to hire 87,000 new IRS agents.
That put a fat bullseye on middle class taxpayers. As The Horn News reported at the time, “The IRS audits 13 out of every 1,000 tax returns filed by people who make less than $25,000—compared to less less than three tax returns filed by everybody else.”
Republicans forced Biden to abandon that plan—and Elon Musk’s DOGE auditors are clear-cutting whole federal agencies…and the IRS may not be far behind.
So, the Trump administration wants to give IRS agents a new job: deporting illegal aliens.
In fact, his Cabinet members have already started the ball rolling.
Trump’s newly confirmed secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, wrote a memo to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent asking that he reassign IRS agents to border control.
Specifically, the February 7 memo—reported first in The Wall Street Journal—asks for the right to deputize some of the 2,290 special agents who know forensic accounting to help ferret out the financial chicanery of human traffickers.
Biden wants the IRS to audit you and human traffickers to keep bringing in future Democratic voters; Trump wants the IRS to bust the terrorist networks and shut down the pipeline of sex slaves and cheap labor flowing into every American community.
“Instead of having Biden’s 87,000 IRS agents take more money from Americans, I have requested that they help taxpayers SAVE money by helping ICE round up criminal illegal aliens for deportation,” said Kristi Noem, whose DHS oversees border security.
President Trump famously campaigned on “mass deportations,” and he’s already delivered. “Since inauguration day, the Trump administration has said it has arrested between 8,000 to 11,000 undocumented immigrants,” according to the left-wing Texas Tribune...and he’s not satisfied.
President Trump is committed to delivering the promises he made on the campaign trail—and he wants all hands on deck.
The IRS isn’t the first unpopular federal agency Noem asked to send its members to help out.
Noem also asked the law enforcement group most dedicated to harassing law-abiding firearms owners—the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF)—to let her deputize some of its agents for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Ditto the Justice Department and the U.S. Marshals Service—which dedicated significant resources to hunting down January 6 protesters under the previous administration.
“Thanks to the last Administration’s open border policies, we’ve seen violent criminals and gang members terrorize American communities,” said a DHS statement about those requests. “Today’s action empowers law enforcement officials at the DOJ to help identify and apprehend aliens who have illegally come into our country.”
The Deep State and its media apologists have already pounced, warning of dire consequences of Americans securing their border.
“If IRS Sends Its Agents To The Border, Here’s The Work That Won’t Get Done,” whined Forbes magazine, which no longer belongs to former Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes. (He sold it to pay for his campaigns.)
Maybe Forbes should consider all the work that won’t get done if the human traffickers don’t get to cross the border and reconsider its stance.
