President Trump is in “excellent health” and fully fit to serve as commander-in-chief, his physician declared Friday following the release of the president’s latest physical examination results.
“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function,” wrote U.S. Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, physician to the president. “His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being.”
“Cognitive and physical performance are excellent,” Barbabella added. “He is fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”
The numbers back up the claim.
Trump turns 80 on June 14 and was the oldest person ever inaugurated as president. The president recently had his annual health checkup at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on May 26, which was his third exam at the military hospital since returning to the White House.
The visit lasted approximately three and a half hours. Trump personally authorized the public release of the findings and posted on Truth Social afterward that everything “checked out PERFECTLY.”

The cognitive results will draw the most attention. Trump scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, the same screening tool used to detect mild cognitive impairment and early signs of dementia that became a subject of intense debate during the Biden administration’s long-running controversy over former President Joe Biden’s mental fitness.
The cardiac results were equally strong. A 3D scan of the president’s heart showed no abnormalities, and AI-enhanced electrocardiogram analysis estimated Trump’s cardiac age at approximately 65. His blood pressure came in at 105 over 71, a notable improvement from 128 over 74 at his April 2025 physical. His resting heart rate was 73 beats per minute.
Trump’s neurological examination found normal mental status, intact cranial nerves, normal motor strength, sensation, reflexes, gait, and balance.
The report noted Trump’s weight at 238 pounds, up 14 pounds from 224 pounds at his last physical. His physician recommended guidance on diet, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss.

Two minor items were addressed directly. Trump continues to show slight lower leg swelling, though it has modestly improved since last year. And the president’s hands carry visible bruising, which has drawn public speculation for years. Barbabella explained it as “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking in the setting of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention,” and said it was “a common and benign effect of aspirin therapy.”
The report also noted scarring on Trump’s right ear after the July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet grazed him during a campaign rally.
